Dems Take Texas including Former Dragon Ball Z Composer for Attorney General
It was a political earthquake on Tuesday, November 3 as Democrats swept back into office taking a majority in the United States House and Senate and flipping seats that were thought to be impossible along with flipping Governors, State House, local races. It was an explosion of blue. One of the biggest surprise of the nights was not just the Democratic win for Senator in Texas or even Governor, but the sweeping down ballot races that flipped the ruby red state to currently blue. One of those wins was Nathan Johnson who will be the next Texas attorney general defeating Republican Mayes Middleton. Why are we covering a state attorney general race? Johnson is also a former composer for Dragon Ball Z.
Johnson, the first Democrat to hold the position of Texas attorney general in 27 years, had previously composed musical scores for Dragon Ball Z and five of its movies. That’s 67 episodes of the anime series during the 2000s as well as 5 movies.
In a video posted to Facebook, Johnson recalls his time composing for the anime and films.
Beyond Dragon Ball Z, Johnson also provided his voice in the dubbing for Berserk: The Golden Age Arc III – The Advent and Berserk: The Golden Age Arc I – The Egg of the King.
Beyond composer, Johnson has an impressive resume include a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Arizona and a law degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He is also a litigator and mediator at the Dallas office of law firm Thompson Coburn LLP. Johnson entered politics as a Democrat and was elected to the Texas State Senate in November 2018 and took office in 2019.
