Red One takes first place at the weekend box office as the holiday season films continue

Red One

Red One won the weekend box office with an estimated $34.1 million domestically and it also grossed $50 million internationally for a worldwide gross of $84.1 million. With Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans starring, it’s hard to really say if that was an opening success or not. There’s a chance the film has legs but with Wicked opening soon, expect the holiday season movie magic to quickly be sucked up and shift to that.

Venom: The Last Dance slipped to second place with an estimated $7.4 million domestically to bring that to $127.6 million after four weeks. Internationally, it added $29.1 million over the week to bring that to $308.5 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $436.1 million. It’s likely the film will end right around where 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage wound up. With a much lower opening weekend, that’s unexpected and impressive.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever held on to third place with $5.4 million domestically to bring its total to just under $20 million after two weeks.

Heretic dropped to fourth place after being in second place last week with $5.2 million. It has grossed $20.4 million domestically so far. With a budget between $75-147 million, the film’s success will be debated and will rely heavily on toy sales to truly determine.

Deadpool & Wolverine grossed a little over the week to lift its total to a little over $636.7 million. Internationally, the movie remained at $701.1 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $1.338 billion.
