Act 4 Publishing and Skybound Reveal a First Look at Mike Mignola’s Hellboy in Hell Book 2 Artist’s Edition

Skybound and Image Comics, in partnership with Scott Dunbier’s Act 4 Publishing, have revealed an exclusive art preview from Mike Mignola’s Hellboy in Hell Book 2 Artist’s Edition. Experience Mike Mignola’s haunting artistry as it was originally drawn, presented in full artboard size in this Artist’s Edition, arriving March 25, 2026. 

Mike Mignola is the critically acclaimed creator of the beloved, demonic hero Hellboy and remains one of the preeminent comics creators of the modern era. His career was already firmly established for his outstanding work on characters like Batman, Dr. Strange, Wolverine, a myriad of beautiful covers… and then came Hellboy. Mignola’s iconic creation struck an immediate chord with fans and hasn’t abated in the 30-plus years since the character’s debut. 

Featuring over 180 pages, this Artist’s Edition collects the concluding five issues of Hellboy in Hell, issues #6-10, as well as many covers and illustrations in their glorious raw state. In addition, the book features an introduction by renowned comics artist and designer of the original Hellboy logo, Kevin Nowlan, as well as an afterword by veteran comics and animation artist Steve Purcell, offering personal insights into the legacy of Hellboy.  

An Artist’s Edition is an art book disguised as a comic collection. Although appearing to be in black and white, all the art is scanned in color, enabling the reader to see the work as close to the original as possible – ink gradients, blue pencil, and all the unique nuances that make original art so special – are all clearly visible and printed at the same size as drawn. The only better way to experience these pages is by looking at the artist’s drawing board, as they’re drawing.

Act 4 Publishing and Skybound Announce Wally Wood’s EC Stories and Mike Mignola’s Hellboy in Hell Book 2 Artist’s Editions

Skybound and Image Comics, in partnership with Scott Dunbier’s Act 4 Publishing have announced the release of two new Artist’s Editions coming in early 2026—Wally Wood’s EC Stories Artist’s Edition- EXPANDED and Mike Mignola’s Hellboy in Hell Book 2 Artist’s Edition. 

Coming February 2026, discover an all-new look at the work of the legendary Wally Wood as he helped change the face of comics forever at EC Comics, the groundbreaking publisher known for their industry leading horror, sci-fi, and suspense storytelling! 

The Wally Wood EC Stories Artist’s Edition – EXPANDED will include all 18 stories from the long out-of-print first edition, but that’s not all. An additional 10 stories will be included for the very first time, for a staggering total of 28 complete stories, and all at the same gigantic size (15 x 22 inches!) as the original art was drawn! 

Within these pages are some of Wood’s greatest artistic achievements, including his work on My World, Came the Dawn, Mars Is Heaven, Atom Bomb, Blockade, and many more! Additionally, more than a dozen classic covers by Wood are included. As an extra special bonus, the unpublished “Spawn of Venus” an EC Comics story intended for the canceled Three-Dimensional Science Fiction is included in this volume.
