Marvel spotlights the Artwork of Magic: The Gathering with Variant Covers

Last year, Marvel Comics entered the world of Magic: The Gathering with Magic: The Gathering – Marvel’s Spider-Man! The all-new crossover set featured original artwork of Spider-Man, iconic Spider-Verse heroes, and legendary Spider-Man supervillains drawn by both superstar comic book artists and renowned Magic: The Gathering artists. To celebrate this exciting collaboration, Marvel will feature the art of Magic: The Gathering – Marvel’s Spider-Man on a new series of variant covers and virgin variant covers this May.

Fans can look forward to more Magic: The Gathering Variant Covers in the near future that spotlight additional Marvel-themed sets, including the highly anticipated Magic: The Gathering – Marvel Super Heroes set launching later this year.

Artist Drew Moss Drops Into ThunderCats X SilverHawks!

Dynamite Entertainment and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products have announced an exciting surprise update to the ThunderCats X SilverHawks comic book crossover event. Fan-favorite artist Drew Moss is dropping in and will be joining the expansive creative team, as the ongoing interior artist for the flagship ThunderCats X SilverHawks series past the first issue.

Now expanding the cockpit back to a two-seater, Declan Shalvey welcomes Drew on board for more fun! The creative duo were at ground zero collaborating on ThunderCats #1 in February 2024 when it blew fans away and scorched up the charts. Comics franchise editor Nate Cosby tagged in a few guest creators for a string of acclaimed special breather issues between story arcs, but Moss was the powerhouse illustrating the vast majority of issues in the series for over two years, including several covers too. And he continues that signature association and run with the biggest story yet!

Following the un-spoiled events of the first issue and accompanying second and third chapters of the crossover in its companion titles, both the ThunderCats and SilverHawks squads find themselves reeling. The ‘Hawks descend upon Third Earth, with plans to apprehend every ‘Cat in sight. What they can’t account for is the ferocious feline instincts of Cheetara!

In addition to the pulse-pounding storytelling of Shalvey and Moss, ThunderCats X SilverHawks #2 sports electrifying covers by Shalvey, Lucio Parrillo, Eric Canete, Chuma Hill, and a piece from the animation archives.

Fans will not want to miss adding the essential fifth and sixth chapters of the crossover to their preorders and reading lists as well.

In Mumm-Ra the Ever-Living #2 by Shalvey and Rapha Lobosco, the master sorcerer awakens in a land not his own — Second Earth! Caught in a land where he is ever-dying and ever-reviving, he must make a pact with the Ancient Spirits to learn their magics, and discover the dark cost of immortality.

Closing out the month of May, ThunderHawks #2 by Ed Brisson and Vincenzo Federici chronicles the now SilverHawks armor-clad ‘Cats crew lost in space and time making preparations to escape from the dystopian future they’re trapped within. It will take a massive diversion, considerable power… and a sacrifice that will rock the team and the entire comics franchise to its core!

Dynamite Entertainment has announced a brand-new flagship ongoing series hitting fans this May, as Red Sonja rips and tears into She-Devil With a Sword driven by writer Rory McConville and artist Pablo de Bonis.

The fiery-haired heroine of Hyrkania finds herself caught in the middle of a spring of revolution. A turbulent movement is determined to reshape all of Hyboria in their image, and have no interest in sparing anyone in their way. The She-Devil must protect the last descendant of an ancient bloodline from their scourge. The person under Sonja’s protection, Aretha, is needed for a blood ritual, and Sonja sets out to try to free her from this cursed fate. Questions will arise through this latest quest that will shake the She-Devil to her core!

Red Sonja: She-Devil With a Sword #1 features the first appearance of the Brotherhood of the Rising Sun, as well as several new friends and foes of Red Sonja in her ongoing epics.

Irish icon Rory McConville has been a rapidly rising star in comics, a key powerhouse in the revived scorching hot popularity of the Spawn mythos contributing to multiple titles, chronicling the latest cases of Judge Dredd, independent titles like Time Before Time and Write It In Blood, and has dipped his toes into the Dynamite pool co-writing The Terminator: Metal alongside Declan Shalvey. Dynamite reveals the ThunderCats X SilverHawks Crossover!

Dynamite Entertainment and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products have unveiled the key creative and story details for the kickoff of the 15-part interconnected epic comics story ThunderCats X SilverHawks. Now, with so many superstars involved, the full slate of variant covers across all three involved titles is revealed!

Ed Brisson and Declan Shalvey are writing this historic crossover. Fans who have been longtime fans of his, and even those continuing here from his preceding prolific run on the flagship ThunderCats series know Declan is also an artistic powerhouse. His three covers across ThunderCats X SilverHawks #1, Mumm-Ra the Ever-Living #1, and ThunderCats X SilverHawks: ThunderHawks were shown in the initial announcement for this event. One additional way his art is being showcased is a sweet incentive cover featuring his layouts for his story. This is a novel collectible for fans of the behind the scenes process of comics creation, and an exclusive look at this side of storytelling.

On other covers, Shalvey is joined by familiar favorites from the ongoing ThunderCats and SilverHawks comics era, as well as shining stars making their first contributions to the comic book franchise.

ThunderCats X SilverHawks #1 also features covers by Lucio Parrillo, Eric Canete, and Ben Oliver.

Vampirella’s New “Season” from Christopher Priest Debuts This April!

Vampirella invites fans to bite into her next “season” of scintillating stories this coming April from industry icon Christopher Priest and artist Davis Goetten. This next chapter in the ongoing epic going on over half a decade starts in Vampirella #1, intended as a convenient jumping-on point for new and returning readers.

The Daughter of Drakulon isn’t the only such fearsome blood-sucker from the planet and family legacy. Her sister Draculina has recently lost her Vampiri powers, as well as the baby she wrested away from Vampirella. Now shackled with humanity, her already fragile psyche risks shattering when her thirst for blood unexpectedly creeps back. Confronted with the prospect of once again being consumed by the evil appetites that had controlled her for centuries, she sets out on a desperate quest to break the patterns of her past and find new answers — or die trying! And how does Vampirella herself factor into these next chapters?

Christopher Priest continues his critically acclaimed and signature approach to the franchise known as the longest running vampire comic book. Priest stands as the creator with the longest continuous un with Vampirella, cresting over 90 issues going back to 2019 with the franchise. The character also marches onwards to a historic issue #700. With the legacy numbering, this new Vampirella #1 also functions as #688. The major milestone is just about a year away! Dynamite can’t wait to celebrate that event with fans who have been with the character over five decades, or are getting to know her in this very issue.

This new debut issue features ravishingly riveting variants from superstars Lucio Parrillo, Derrick Chew, Joseph Michael Linsner, Elias Chatzoudis, as well as a cosplay cover from model Rachel Hollon.
