Heroes & Scream Starlette Hayden Panettiere Coming to 2012 Calgary Expo

The Calgary Expo will be making some noise in 2012 with Heroes and Scream 4 star Hayden Panettiere set to make an appearance. 

(Calgary, AB) Hayden Panettiere, award winning actor and vocalist, has been added to the Calgary Expo’s growing roster of media and creator guests for the convention which runs April 27-April 29, 2012.

Hayden has performed in over 50 titles since the start of her acting career at the young age of 11 months. She is known primarily for her portrayal of Claire Bennet in Heroes, making the phrase, “Save the Cheerleader, Save the World” a household saying. Hayden also starred in the fourth installment of the comedic-horror Scream franchise as well as being the voice behind Dot in Pixar’s A Bug’s Life.

She has won multiple awards including the Teen Choice Award which she received three consecutive years (2007-2009)for her work on Heroes. She was also the recipient of the 2001 Young Artist Award as the Best Supporting Young Actress for her role alongside Denzel Washington in Remember the Titans.

“Hayden’s work is expansive,to say the least,”says Event Director Kandrix Foong. “She is a great example of young talent in the industry and she’s become a very strong role model.”

The attendance of Hayden at the Calgary Expo highlights the diverse nature of the show, as year after year the convention continues to expand its content to include elements that will excite enthusiasts of not only comics and science fiction, but also horror, gaming, family programming, animation and pop culture as a whole.

The Calgary Expo is a non-profit organization that showcases the incredible talent of comic creators, artists, actors, voice actors, musicians, writers and pop culture icons from all over the world. Founded in 2006, the convention has grown rapidly having hosted guests from every genre including William Shatner, Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, voice actor Vic Mignogna and Bruce Timm an Emmy award winning Batmanillustrator. The 2011 convention saw 30,000 attendees and is the 2nd largest convention of its kind in all of Canada.

Guests for the 2012 Calgary Expo currently include Robert Englund (Nightmare on Elm Street), Amanda Tapping (Stargate: SG-1, Sanctuary), Katee Sackhoff (BattlestarGalactica, 24), James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Adam West (Batman, Family Guy) and Tara Strong (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Powerpuff Girls).

NEW YORK and AUSTIN, Texas, September 21, 2011 – North America’s largest pop-culture tour continues as Wizard World Austin Comic Con returns to the Austin Convention Center, November 11-13, with standout guests Hayden Panettiere, Adam Baldwin, ACADEMY AWARD WINNER Louis Gossett Jr., James Marsters, Juliet Landau and Charisma Carpenter headlining the list of celebrity attendees.  The event, produced by Wizard World, Inc. (WIZD.PK) will bring together thousands of fans of all ages and dozens of celebrities and industry professionals to celebrate the best in pop-fi, pop culture, movies, graphic novels, comics, toys, video gaming, television, sci-fi, gaming, original art, collectibles, contests and more.

Panettieri (“Heroes,” BRING IT ON) will appear on Saturday only, Baldwin (FULL METAL JACKET, “Serenity”) is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, and Gossett (AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN, ENEMY MINE), Marsters (“Buffy: The Vampire Slayer,” “Caprica”), Landau (“Buffy: The Vampire Slayer,” “Angel”) and Carpenter (“Buffy: The Vampire Slayer,” “Veronica Mars”) will attend all three days.

The five kids from the original WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY will also reunite at Austin Comic Con, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the film’s release.   Peter Ostrum (“Charlie Bucket”), Paris Themmen (“Mike Tee Vee”), Julie Dawn Cole (“Veruca Salt”), Denise Nickerson (“Violet Beauregard”) and Michael Boellner (“Augustus Gloop”) will appear together for an extremely rare reunion.

And Sunday, Nov. 13, is Kids Day at Austin Comic Con, with face painting, balloons, a “passport” treasure hunt and other activities designed especially for kids!  Other special events include card gaming tournaments, professional photo opportunities (Photo Ops) and more.
