Comedian and Actor Godfrey Heads to AfroComicCon

AfroComicCon has announced that comedian and actor, Godfrey, will be among its Special Guests for the virtual convention!

Godfrey, is a multi-talented comedian and actor who has appeared on the nation’s television screens (BET, VH1, Comedy Central) and in feature films such as Soul Plane and Zoolander. He was a spokesperson for 7 Up during the popular ‘7up yours’ advertising campaign, as well as a cast member on the first season of The It Factor, a reality television show.

Godfrey started his career at the All Jokes Aside comedy club in Chicago in the early 1990s. His star quickly began to rise, leading to Broadway roles, comedy tours, and eventually landing him roles in iconic comedies like Johnson Family Vacation and The Cookout. Godfrey also snagged a wealth of voice acting roles, including the much-beloved Kofi in Steven Universe and the voices of Mr. Stubborn and Mr. Tall in The Mr. Men Show.

He was a regular performer at the comedy club Comedy Cellar in New York City. He is also known for doing and hosting the FOX game show Bullseye. He hosts and owns a podcast called In Godfrey We Trust on the Gas Digital Network. 


AfroComicCon​‘s 1st virtual convention will be held on October 24, 2020. Due to COVID-19 concerns, the annual event started in 2017 by the ​Oakland Technology & Education Center (OTEC), ​will be held virtually and free through a portal on the organization’s website. Sponsored by the NNPA, the ​Oakland A’s, and Pixar Entertainment, AfroComicCon promises to be a day full of exciting panels, screenings, entertainment, gaming, cosplay and special guests.
