Bronx and Lance Return in a New Gargoyles Winter Special!

The new era of Gargoyles comics has been acclaimed by critics and cherished by fans, and one of the most fun elements has been an established tradition of winter specials. Dynamite Entertainment has announced the third in this delightful annual celebration!

While the stone guardians of the Manhattan Clan are caught up in the chaos of the holidays, everyone’s favorite dog-like Gargoyle named Bronx finds time to enjoy the wintery weather and explore. In the first such special in 2024 he met a new buddy in bull terrier Lance. 

Co-writers Greg Weisman and Nate Cosby reunite once more with original Dynamite Gargoyles artist George Kambadais for another mission of this adorable pair of protectors. On the longest night of the year, in the darkest part of the night, a danger lurks out in the snow. Thankfully Bronx and Lance are going to stay up all night, vigilantly guarding the ones they care about most — including each other.

This oversized 48-page special is complemented by gorgeous covers capturing the season by Stephen Byrne, Kambadais, Drew Moss, and Domenico Carbone.

For Elisa Maza, December is bittersweet. She loves the snowy streets of New York City and the bustle of the holiday season — and having a Gargoyle boyfriend who carries her above the skyscrapers to see all of the festive lights is a pretty great perk.

But the month also reminds her of an unsolved mystery from her first year as a detective — a baffling break-in that featured odd clues, a stolen family heirloom, and vague descriptions of a lumbering “thing” that was seen only in the shadows. As she tells Goliath one icy winter night, the fact that she was never able to crack the case still gnaws at her, even after all these years.

And that’s all that Broadway needs to overhear to convince him to don his private eye trench coat and reopen the investigation — accompanied, of course, by Bronx and his bull terrier pal, Lance!

Bronx of the Gargoyles Explores Beautiful Blizzard in New Special

In time for the holidays, the beloved Gargoyles must trudge through a fearsome blizzard in the new Winter Special coming this December from Dynamite Entertainment and franchise creator Greg Weisman.

A massive storm has blanketed a snowy New York City, bringing the city that never sleeps to a frigid standstill. As night falls, the Gargoyles awaken to find their adopted city transformed into a silent winter wonderland. Crime doesn’t take snow days though, so the Manhattan Clan commence their patrol.

The dog-like fan-favorite Bronx is eager to explore this new landscape though, running and jumping through the piles and falling crystals of beautiful and refreshing snow. While on his own, his peaceful night is rudely interrupted when he witnesses a family get separated. It’s up to Bronx to sniff out this mission himself, and before the missing family member is trapped under ten feet of snow!

Franchise mastermind Greg Weisman reunited with original flagship Gargoyles artist George Kambadais, and they’re assisted with writing contributions from Nate Cosby, typically in the editor chair. This special extra-length 40-pager features a set of stunning covers from Kambadais, Jae Lee, Trish Forstner, and Chris Eliopoulos that capture the winter wonderland and Bronx’s wonderment among it all perfectly.
