SDCC – Leading Production Designers, Illustrators from Art Directors Guild at Comic-Con

Comic Con is right around the corner and we are all looking forward to seeing our favorite heroes, super heroes, villains, monsters, aliens, vampires, goblins, witches and all imaginable and unimaginable creatures.

Ever wonder where these characters live and who and how their fantastic environments come to be? Two panels will demonstrate exactly how that happens.

On Friday, July 22 from 5:00 to 6:00 PM, some of the most creative and prolific Illustrators will share secrets of their trades. Saturday morning, July 23 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Production Designers will talk about creating the worlds that capture our imaginations.

Friday, July 22
5:00-6:00pm Motion Picture and Television Illustrators – Nowadays a movie starts with an idea expressed in words or images. The men and women who turn these ideas into worlds of visual reality, be it a distant world of pure imagination or an earthly hovel, are the storyboard artists and illustrators. They will discuss their craft and answer questions. Panelists include moderator Hank Mayo (Ghostbusters 2), Tim Burgard (Thor, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Green Lantern), Ricardo Delgado (John Carter, Battle Los Angeles, Gulliver’s Travel, X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Robin Richesson (I Am Number Four, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, Ironman) Josh Nizzi (Transformers 3, The Amazing Spiderman, G.I. Saturday, July 23
10:00-11:00am Motion Picture and Television Production Designers:  If Writers write the words, and Cinematographers take the pictures; it’s the Production Designerswho create the cinematic worlds — of here and now, of long ago, of the distant future, and maybe even somewhere in a galaxy far, far, away.  In collaboration with a highly skilled art department, the Production Designer lays out the designs that will guide a small army of decorators, carpenters, sculptors, painters, and artisans of all sorts, to bring into existence those fantastic worlds that will fire all of our imaginations!
