Avatar: Fire and Ash and Zootopia 2 repeat in First and Second Place at the Weekend Box Office

Avatar: Fire and Ash came in first place for the third weekend in a row grossing an estimated $40 million domestically to bring its total gross to $306 million. Over the week, it grossed $234.4 million internationally to bring that to $777.1 million. Worldwide, the movies has grossed $1.083 billion. The film is the third highest grossing film worldwide released in 2025 but could possibly move into second, which is currently held by Zootopia 2.

That film, Zootopia 2, held on to second place with $19 million domestically to lift its domestic gross to $363.6 million. Internationally, the movie grossed $124.6 million over the week to bring that to $1.225 billion. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $1.588 billion.

The Housemaid moved up one spot from fourth to third with $14.9 million to bring its domestic gross to $75.7 million. Internationally, the film grossed $16.2 million over the week where it has now grossed $16.3 million. Worldwide, the movie stands at $92.1 million.

Marty Supreme went from third to fourth grossing $12.6 million over the weekend to bring its domestic total to $56 million. Internationally, the movie grossed $2 million for a worldwide total of $58 million.

Anaconda repeated in fifth place with $10 million to bring its domestic total to $45.9 million after two weeks. Internationally, it grossed $22.5 million to bring its international total to $42.5 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $88.4 million.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution grossed about $200,000 over the week domestically to bring that total to $16.5 million. Internationally, it added about $200,000 and has now grossed $24.9 million for a worldwide gross of just under $41.4 million.

Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc remained at $43.4 million domestically. Internationally, the movie increased $2.6 million to bring that to $114.9 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $158.3 million.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie – Infinity Castle gained a little and is now at $134.5 million domestically. Internationally, the movie also added a little and has grossed $586.2 million. Its worldwide gross is $720.7 million.

Numbers have 51 movies grossing $133,367,959 from 33,039 theaters for an average of $4,036.68. That compared to last week’s 43 movies grossing $173,309,178 from 32,190 theaters for an average of $5,383.95.

Avatar: Fire and Ash Repeats in First Place

Avatar: Fire and Ash came in first place at the weekend box office for the second weekend in a row. The film dropped just 28.2%, an impressive amount as blockbusters tend to drop far more in their second weekend. The movie grossed an estimated $64 million to bring its domestic gross up to $217.7 million. Over the week, it grossed $285.7 million internationally to bring that to $542.7 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $760.4 million after two weeks.

Zootopia 2 improved moving from fifth to second and grossing an estimated $20 million to bring its domestic total to $321.4 million. over the week, it added about $110 million internationally to bring that to just under $1.100 billion. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $1.421 billion.

Marty Supreme expanded in theaters and its gross did too. The film brought in about $15.6 million to bring its domestic total to $28.3 million. There is not international gross reported.

The Housemaid slipped to fourth place with $15.4 million to bring its domestic gross to $46.5 million. Internationally, it has grossed $168,586 for a worldwide total of $46.6 million.

Anaconda debuted last week and grossed $14.6 million over the weekend and $23.7 million domestically in total so far. Internationally, it grossed $20 million for a worldwide total of $43.7 million.

Avatar: Fire and Ash tops the weekend box office as four debuts take the top four spots

It was a weekend of debuts topping the box office with Avatar: Fire and Ash by far the top film with nearly four times the second place movie. Avatar: Fire and Ash debuted with an estimated $88 million which is a fraction of the $257 million it has earned internationally for a worldwide opening of $345 million.

The first Avatar opened in 2009 with $77 million and went on to gross $785.2 million domestically and $2.924 billion worldwide. The second film in 2022 opened with $134.1 million to end with $688.5 million domestically and $2.343 billion worldwide.

It’s hard to judge this third film as it’s a bit above the first not adjusted for inflation but far below the second film. SO, the final worldwide gross will be the real way to judge it and will be interesting to see how it might impact the two films that are scheduled to be released.

David opened in second place with $22 million domestically, not too surprising as it’ll play to the holiday season.

The Housemaid came in third place with just under $19 million domestically.

The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants opened in fourth place with $16 million domestically and $957 internationally. The answer is Colombia if you’re wondering what country.

The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie opened in 2004 with $32 million domestically and went on to gross $85.4 million domestically and $141.1 million worldwide. The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water opened in 2015 with $55.4 million domestically and went on to gross $163 million domestically and $325.2 million worldwide. The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run opened with $865,824 domestically in 2020 and grossed $4.8 million. So, overall, this latest film is a bit of a disappointment for the franchise.

Rounding out the top five was Zootopia 2 with $14.5 million to bring its domestic gross to $282.8 million. Over the week, it grossed $112.3 million to bring that to $990 million. The film has grossed $1.273 billion worldwide, passing the first film which grossed $1.044 billion in 2016.

Zootopia 2 retook the top of the box office after slipping to second place last weekend. It grossed an estimated $26.3 million to bring its domestic gross to just under $259 million. Over the week, it grossed $182.4 million internationally to bring that to $877.7 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $1.137 billion. It’s the second highest grossing film of the year worldwide, though unlikely to take first place which is Ne Zha 2 with $1.902 billion.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 slipped to second place after debuting in first place the previous weekend. The film grossed an estimated $19.5 million, a drop of 69.5%. While that’s on the high side, it’s not surprising for such a niche film. Over the week, it grossed $32.2 million internationally to bring that to $78.3 million for a worldwide gross $173.8 million.

Wicked: For Good held on to third place with $8.6 million to bring its domestic gross to $312.1 million. Over the week, it grossed $12.6 million internationally for $155.8 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed just under $468 million.

Dhurandhar has an amazing jump to fourth place with $3.5 million, a 76.8% increase and LOST 14 theaters over the week, only showing in 377. The movie has grossed $7.9 million domestically and $907,319 internationally for a worldwide total to $8.8 million.

Now You See Me: Now You Don’t remained in fifth with an estimated $2.4 million. The movie has grossed $59.3 million domestically. The internationally grossed remained at $154 million with a worldwide total of $213.3 million.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 takes the top of the box office but falls short of the first film

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 won the weekend box office with an estimated $63 million domestically. It also grossed $46.1 million internationally for a worldwide debut of $109.1 million. Five Nights at Freddy’s debuted in 2023 with $80 million and went on to gross $137.3 million domestically and $291.6 million worldwide. The sequel hasn’t matched those numbers, so will be interesting to see how much it has as far as legs and if it can get close to the original’s grosses.

Zootopia 2 slipped to second place in its second weekend dropping 57.1% and grossing an estimated $43 million to bring its domestic total to $220.5 million. Internationally, it grossed $294.9 million over the week to bring that to $695.3 million. With a worldwide total of $915.8 million, there’s little doubt the film will cross $1 billion at the box office worldwide.

Wicked: For Good came in third place with $16.8 million domestically to bring that to just under $297 million. Over the week, it grossed $20.3 million over the week to bring that to $143.2 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $440.1 million.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution debuted in fourth place where it grossed an estimated $10.2 million domestically. Internationally, it has grossed $30.2 million for a worldwide gross of $40.4 million.

Now You See Me: Now You Don’t rounds out the top five with $3.5 million to bring its domestic gross to $55.3 million. Over the week, it grossed $12.7 million internationally to bring that total to $154 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $209.3 million.

Zootopia 2 was the top film this past weekend grossing an estimated $96.8 million. The movie opened earlier in the week and has grossed $156 million domestically and $400.4 million internationally for $556.4 million worldwide already!

The original Zootopia opened with $75.1 million in 2016 and went on to gross $341.3 million domestically and $1.025 billion worldwide.

Wicked: For Good slipped one spot coming in second place grossing an estimated $62.8 million domestically to bring its total to $270.4 million. Internationally, it grossed $46.8 million over the week to bring that to $122.8 million for $393.3 million worldwide.

Now You See Me: Now You Don’t slipped one spot to third place with $7 million to bring its domestic total to $49.7 million. Over the week, it grossed $27.9 million internationally to bring that to $137.3 million. Worldwide, it has grossed just under $187 million.

Predator: Badlands dropped on spot to fourth place with $4.8 million to bring its domestic total to $85 million. Over the week, it grossed $5.4 million internationally to bring that to $88.7 million to lift its overall total gross to $173.7 million.

Rounding out the top five was The Running Man with $3.7 million to bring its domestic total to $34.2 million. Over the week, it grossed $5 million internationally to bring that to $26.3 million for a worldwide total of $60.5 million.

Wicked: For Good was the top film at the weekend box office by a wide margin. The movie grossed an estimated $150 million domestically and $76 million internationally for a debut weekend of $226 million. That improves upon the first film which grossed $112 million domestically its opening weekend and then went on to gross just under $475 million domestically and $758.7 million worldwide. Will the sequel cross the billion dollar mark? It’s possible the film could be frontloaded with fans who saw the first and want to see the second half which could result in a tumble. But, with the holiday weekend coming it should do well though faces a challenge with Zootopia 2 opening this week.

Now You See Me: Now You Don’t dipped to second place with an estimated $9.1 million, a 56.6% drop from the opening weekend. It has now grossed $36.8 million domestically in two weeks. It over doubled its internal debut take with $55.2 million over the week to bring its international gross to $109.4 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $146.2 million.

Predator: Badlands held on to third place with $6.3 million to bring its domestic gross to $76.3 million. Over the week, the film grossed $13.3 million internationally to lift that to $83.3 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $159.6 million.

The Running Man dropped to third place with $5.8 million domestically where it has grossed just $27 million after two weeks. Internationally, the movie added $10.1 million over the week to bring that to $21.3 million and a worldwide gross of $48.3 million.

Rounding out the top five was Rental Family which grossed $3.3 million domestically.

Now You See Me: Now You Don’t took the top spot at the weekend box office, but did it with the lowest debut of the trilogy of films. Now You See Me: Now You Don’t opened with an estimated $21.3 million domestically and $54.2 million internationally for a worldwide opening of $75.5 million. That domestic opening is the lowest for the series.
Now You See Me opened in 2013 with $29.4 million and went on to gross $117.7 million domestically and $351.7 million worldwide. Now You See Me 2 in 2016 debuted with $22.4 million at the domestic box office and went on to gross $65.1 million domestically, $269.8 million internationally, and $334.9 million worldwide. With this film’s third film being a bit under the second film’s debut, there’s a good chance it’ll have a similar run though likely to fall short of that worldwide with some tough competition coming in the next few weeks.

The Running Man debuted in second place with $17 million domestically and $11.2 million internationally for a worldwide debut of $28.2 million. It’s hard to compare this one to 1987’s original which debuted with $8.1 million domestically and went on to gross $38.1 million domestically with no international gross reported, but this can’t be considered good. But, let’s be honest, Stephen King adaptations have a very shaky history at the box office.

Predator: Badlands dropped 67.5% to come in third place in its second week after debuting in first. The movie grossed $13 million to bring its domestic total to $66.3 million. Internationally, it grossed $30 million over the week to bring that to $70 million for a worldwide gross of $136.3 million.

Regretting You slipped to fourth place from second with $4 million domestically where it has now grossed just under $45 million. Internationally, it grossed $18.4 million over the week to bring that to $37.5 million for a worldwide total of $82.5 million.

Black Phone 2 wrapped up the top five with $2.7 million domestically to bring that to $74.7 million. Over the week, it grossed $9.8 million internationally to bring that total to $53.1 million. Worldwide it has grossed $127.7 million.

Predator: Badlands was top of the box office in its debut weekend with an estimated $40 million domestically. It earned the same amount internationally for a worldwide debut of $80 million. It’s a petty solid opening for the nearly 40 year old franchise.

  • Predators (2010) – $24.8 million domestic opening, $52 million domestic, $127.2 million worldwide

Now, the question is how much the film has as far as legs to see if it can top previous worldwide grosses.

Update: Black Phone 2 came it first with $8.3 million while Regretting You came in second with $7.8 million.

Regretting You was the top of the weekend box office for the worst weekend of 2025 so far and the lowest-grossing October weekend in 27 years. The movie grossed estimated $8.1 million domestically. With just $100,000 between that and second place, things might be adjusted and change when final numbers are in. Domestically, the film is at $27.5 million. Internationally, the film added about $13.3 million over the week to bring that to $23.3 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $50.8 million.

Black Phone 2 held on to second place with $8 million to bring its domestic gross to $61.5 million. Over the week, it grossed $11.9 million internationally to bring that to $43.3 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $104.7 million after three weeks.

Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc dropped to third place after debuting in first. It added $6 million to its domestic total which is now $30.8 million. Over the week, it grossed $17.4 million internationally and now stands at $108.2 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed just under $139 million.

KPop Demon Hunters returned to theaters for a limited engagement coming in fourth with $5.3 million. Its two outings have grossed $24.3 million domestically.

Bugonia increased its theaters and thus gross jumping 576.2% to $4.8 million and now has grossed $5.8 million. Internationally, the movie has grossed $5.3 million for a worldwide gross of $11.1 million.
