NYCC 2025: Yen Press Announces Delicious in Dungeon Board Game

At New York Comic Con 2025, Yen Press announced the acquisition of Monster Eater: Delicious in Dungeon the Board Game for release in May 2026. Inspired by the popular 1998 Monster Maker board game, this exciting iteration of Delicious in Dungeon allows fans to play as their favorite characters and team up to explore dungeons, battle (or eat!) iconic monsters from the series, and earn victory points to win.

Delicious in Dungeon is the award-winning and bestselling series written by Ryoko Kui, released in English from Yen Press in May 2017.

In this collaborative game combining the hit manga Delicious in Dungeon and the work of legendary game designer Ginichiro Suzuki, you and a party of 2–5 of your closest friends can delve the depths of the dungeon together, seeking fame, wealth, power, and more. But beware: Deadly monsters lie in wait—for you to dine on them!   

Beloved for its unique premise, engaging characters, and detailed worldbuilding, the series received an anime adaptation that premiered on Netflix in January 2024. Later that year, the series won Best Manga at the Harvey Awards and Best Continuing Manga Series at the inaugural American Manga Awards. During Anime NYC, the inaugural American Manga Awards ceremony was held at the Japan Society in New York City. The awards were launched this year and the focus is to celebrate the best manga published in North America over the past year.

VIZ Media walked away with 3 awards, Kodansha received 2, and Yen Press won 1.

Delicious in Dungeon took over Anime Expo 2024, boosted by the attendance of the creator Ryoko Kui as a guest of honor, marking her first visit to a North American convention. With unique and appealing art and a fun food-filled story, Delicious in Dungeon has been one of the most popular manga series from publisher Yen Press for years. Following the January 2024 release of the anime adaptation on Netflix, Delicious in Dungeon has become one of the most popular properties in the world of manga and anime.

Anime Expo, the largest anime convention in the United States held annually in Los Angeles, announced the attendance of Ryoko Kui, the creator of the hit manga series Delicious in Dungeon, as a Guest of Honor. With unique and appealing art and a food-filled story that puts a fun spin on the fantasy genre, Delicious in Dungeon has been one of the most popular manga series from publisher Yen Press for years. Following the January 2024 release of the anime adaptation, Ryoko Kui’s Delicious in Dungeon has become one of the most popular properties in the world of manga and anime.

Anime Expo 2023: Delicious in Dungeon Anime to Stream Worldwide on Netflix

On July 1st, 2023 KADOKAWA Corporation announced during the TRIGGER World Premiere at Anime Expo 2023 that the upcoming January 2024 anime, Delicious in Dungeon will stream on Netflix worldwide after its release.

 Ahead of its premiere, a special Delicious in Dungeon exhibit is being featured at the KADOKAWA booth (South Hall 1206) at Anime Expo 2023. Kentaro Kumagai, the voice of Laios, and Sayaka Sembongi, the voice of Marcille, are also attending Anime Expo 2023 as special guests from Japan.

The anime adaptation of the popular Japanese manga Delicious in Dungeon (Japanese: ダンジ ョン飯 / Hepburn: Danjon Meshi / lit. “Dungeon Meal”), written and illustrated by Ryoko Kui, has been highly anticipated ever since its track record of selling more than 8.5 million copies in Japan. In North America, the manga series is licensed by Yen Press and has been translated up to Volume 12 in English (as of June 2023).

When young adventurer Laios and his company are attacked and soundly thrashed by a dragon deep in a dungeon, the party loses all its money and provisions…and a member! They’re eager to go back and save her, but there is just one problem: If they set out with no food or coin to speak of, they’re sure to starve on the way! But Laios comes up with a brilliant idea: “Let’s eat the monsters!”
