The Batman Opens with Over $248 Million Worldwide

It should be no surprise that The Batman ruled the weekend box office. The film showed that if people want to see it, they’ll come out and there’s still a place for blockbusters. The film opened up with a reported $128.5 million domestically and $120 million internationally for a worldwide total of $248.5 million. It’s also a big win for the perceived floundering DC Comics based films that has a massive amount of movies opening this year.

Uncharted dropped down to second place after two weeks in first. The film grossed an estimated $11 million domestically to bring that total to $100.3 million. The film also added about $28 million to its international total to lift that to $171.3 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $271.6 million after three weeks.

Dog came in third place. The film added a little over $6 million to its total to bring that to a little above $40 million. It also added about $3.4 million over the week to bring its international total to $4.9 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $44.9 million.

Spider-Man: No Way Home dropped out of the top three for the first time in its twelfth week. The film came in fourth with an estimated $4.4 million. Domestically it has grossed $786.5 million. The international total looks like it dropped a bit and now is listed at $1.080 billion. The film has grossed $1.866 billion worldwide.

Death on the Nile rounded out the top five with an estimated $2.7 milliojn to bring its domestic total to $37.1 million. It also dipped a bit at the international level with it now being reported at $68.4 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $105.5 million.

In comic films…

The King’s Man grossed an estimated $9,000 to bring its domestic total to $37.2 million. The film also added about $350,000 over the week at the international box office to bring that total to a little over $88.6 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $125.7 million.

Initial numbers have 51 films earning $166,051,067 from 30,108 theaters. That’s over double last weekend’s 51 films which earned $60,891,958 from 38,422 theaters theaters. The average earning was $5,515.18 this past weekend, an increase from the previous weekend’s $1,584.82.

Uncharted Repeats in First Place as the Top Five Remains the Same

Uncharted held on to the top of the box office with an estimated $23.3 million. The film has now earned $83.4 million domestically. Over the week, the film earned about $55 million at the international box office to bring that to $143 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $226.4 million after two weeks.

Dog held on to second with a drop of just 32% as the amount of theaters increased. The film grossed an estimated $10.1 million to bring its domestic total to $30.9 million. The film didn’t have international grosses the previous week but now has $1.5 million reported. Worldwide, the film has grossed $32.4 million after two weeks.

Spider-Man: No Way Home remained in third place. The film has been in the top three for its entire 11 week run so far. The film grossed an estimated $5.8 million to bring its domestic total to $779.9 million. The film is marching to $800 million, a number that seemed out of reach weeks ago. The film also added about $24 million internationally over the week to bring that total to $1.084 billion. Worldwide, the film has grossed $1.864 billion.

The film is the third highest grossing film domestically (not adjusted for inflation). The film would need to add about $80 million to its domestic total to move into second which is held by Avengers: Endgame. The film sits in sixth place for worldwide lifetime gross and is unlikely to move into fifth as there’s a $185 million gap.

In second place was another debut, Dog which earned an estimated $15.1 million. No international return has been reported.

Spider-Man: No Way Home improved one spot from the previous week gaining a bit and earning a reported $7.7 million. That brings its domestic total to $770.6 million. Over the week, the film grossed about $15 million to bring its international total to $1.831 billion.

The film passed Avatar this weekend to now be the third highest grossing film domestically (not adjusted for inflation). The film would need to add about $87 million to its domestic total to move into second which is held by Avengers: Endgame. Eternals looks like it has ended its run with a domestic total $164.9 million. It also looks like it’s done at the international box where it stands at $237.2 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed just about $402.1 million.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage returned to theaters but that looks to be over. The film has grossed $213.6 million domestically. The international box office remained steady at $288.5 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed just under $502.1 million worldwide.

Jackass Forever which was at the top last weekend slipped to second with an estimated $8.1 million. That brought its domestic gross to $37.4 million. Marry Me got a dual release in theaters and on Peacock. The film earned $8 million domestically and $8.5 million at the international box office. Worldwide, the film has grossed $16.5 million.
