Games Workshop Pre-Order Preview: Warhammer Underworld, The Old World, Legions Imperialist, and more!

It’s a mixed week of releases for Games Workshop with new items for three different games, Warhammer Underworlds, Warhammer: The Old World, and Warhammer: The Horus Heresy – Legions Imperialis.

Warhammer Underworlds: Spitewood is a new expansion for the latest edition of Warhammer Underworlds. The action takes players to Spitewood as Helsmiths take on Kurnoth’s most loyal followers. The set features two new warbands, Kurnoth’s Heralds and the Blood of the Bull. It also comes with their warscroll and fighter cards, as well as a double-sided game board representing the deep forests of Ghyran. You also get a sheet of tokens, a 16-page rulebook introducing new mechanics for the Spitewood board, and two Rivals decks – Hunting Grounds and Deadly Synergy. To use this expansion you’ll need a copy of Warhammer Underworlds: Embergard.

Seekers in the Shadow collects four warbands Xandire’s Truthseekers, the Shadeborn, the Starblood Stalkers, and Elathain’s Soulraid along with warscoll cards and fighters cards for each warband.

Reavers of Ruin features the Gnarlspirit Pack, Skittershank’s Clawpack, the Thricefold Discord, and the Wurmspat along with warscoll cards and fighters cards for each warband.

Morbid Minions features the Exiled Dead, the Sons of Velmorn, the Skinnerkin, and Thorns of the Briar Queen along with warscoll cards and fighters cards for each warband.

Gitz and Goliaths includes Hrothgorn’s Mantrappers, Rippa’s Snarlfangs, Mollog’s Mob, and Zarbag’s Gitz along with warscoll cards and fighters cards for each warband.

Warbands of Spitewood features updated fighter and warscroll cards for all 16 in the Warbands of Spitewood set. The cards visually differ slightly to those contained within the four boxes above, with photography of the warbands on the reverse of each warscroll card.

Arcane Journal: The War of Settra’s Fury for Warhammer: The Old World as a 48-page supplement that contains background lore on the war in the Border Princes, as well as rules for Battle March – a new high speed game mode for 500-750 point games, with force limitations, three deployment maps, and changes to scoring. There are new Tomb Kings of Khemri rules for the monstrous mounts and incantations of the Mortuary Cult, as well as two Armies of Infamy – Renegade Crowns for the Empire of Man, and the Slayer Host for the Dwarfen Mountain Holds.

Liche Priests are the root of the Tomb King’s power, conducting powerful rituals to recall spirits from the Realm of Souls and wielding ancient Nehekharan lore to smite their foes in battle. This box contains two plastic Liche Priests, one on foot and one mounted on a barded skeletal steed. Each has a number of interchangeable options, including four heads, a pair of scales that can be swapped across both models, and a choice of staff toppers. The priest on foot also has options for a magical effect base topper and an eerie floating scroll.

Royal Heralds builds a plastic Tomb Prince and Royal Herald – with your choice of which one walks and which is mounted on a skeletal steed. Both have a number of cosmetic options, including a cape and collar, chest decorations, right hand choices, including two hand weapons and an empty hand, left hand options, including battle standard, shield, or great weapon, and two head options for both Tomb Prince and Royal Herald.

Legiones Astartes Combat Force allows you to start or expand your force. It contains 131 individual miniatures and contains 2 Legion Command Squads, 8 Tactical Legionary bases, 2 Legion Terminator bases, 2 Assault Marine bases, 2 Support Legionary bases, 2 Heavy Support Legionary bases, 4 Contemptor Dreadnoughts, 4 Leviathan Dreadnoughts, 4 Deredeo Dreadnoughts, 4 Rapiers, 4 Tarantulas, 5 Rhino transports, 4 Kratos tanks, and 4 Sicaran tanks. It also comes with 3 Legiones Astartes Vehicle transfer sheets, each with 1130 decals.

The Mechanicum Combat Force contains 2 Archmagos Prime on Abeyant, 2 Myrmidon Secutor Host bases, 2 Tech-Priests bases, 4 Ursarax bases, 4 Myrmidon Destructor bases, 8 Thallax bases, 8 Tech-thrall bases, 4 Castellax bases, 2 Vorax bases, 2 Vultarax, 2 Arlatax, 2 Domitar, 4 Thanatar equipped with plasma mortars, 4 Thanatar equipped with sollex heavy-las cannons, 6 Krios battle tanks, and 2 Triaros Armoured Conveyors. It also comes with 2 Mechanicum transfer sheets, with 500 decals each.

The Solar Auxilia Combat Force contains 2 Solar Auxilia Command bases, 8 Auxilia bases, 4 Auxilia with flamers bases, 4 Veletarii bases, 4 Charonite Ogryn bases, 4 Aethon Heavy Sentinels, 12 Auxilia Tarantulas, 12 Auxilia Rapiers, 4 Cyclops demolition vehicles, 3 Dracosan transports, 8 Leman Russ Vanquishers, and 2 Auxilia Baneblades. The box also contains 3 Solar Auxilia transfer sheets, each containing 288 decals.

White Dwarf 517 is packed with lots of Warhammer hobby content to tuck into. Battlefield scenery is the central theme of this issue, with showcases of terrain collections and guides on how to make your own. There is also a brand new Tale of Four Warlords starting up for Warhammer Age of Sigmar, rules for cavalry battles in Warhammer 40,000 and aerial battles in the Mortal Realms, plus new Kill Team rules for fighting on Necron tomb worlds of various flavours – and a new mission for the Space Marine Operations game mode. That’s not all either, as there are plenty of articles on background lore, plus a new short story, and showcases of miniatures painted by staff and readers to provide you with tons of inspiration.

Games Workshop Pre-Order Preview: The Gloomspite Gitz are coming!

It’s a Warhammer: Age of Sigmar pre-order weekend coming soon from Games Workshop. The Gloomspite Gitz get the focus with their Battletome and more!

The new Battletome: Gloomspite Gitz collects rules and warscrolls for the Gloomspite Gitz with background, Battle Traits, Battle Formations, Heroic Traits, Artefacts of Power, plus Spell and Manifestation Lores. It also contains rules for a Gitmob-focused Spearhead, two Armies of Renown – one headed up by Droggz da Sunchompa and the other by Skragrott the Loonking, as well was Regiments of Renown, Path to Glory rules and an Anvil of Apotheosis for forging your own deeply cunnin’ git.

You can also get the Battletome: Gloomspite Gitz (Gamer’s Edition). The more portable package of the Gamer’s Edition of Battletome: Gloomspite Gitz, it features all of the same material in a smaller format. It comes with a full set of reference cards.

Droggz da Sunchompa is the dominant leader in the Gitmobs. This corpulent grot rides into battle atop Jaggedsnarl, a wizened Snarlfang who has outlived many masters over his long life. They are framed by the radiant sunmetal banner known as Da Frazzlefangz which blinds his enemies with flashes of light, leaving him able to cave heads in with the Da Metal Toof, a war-pick made from a chunk of meteor.

Snarlboss on War-Wheela is the most ostentatious of chariots. This plastic kit can also be built as a Frazzlegit Shaman on War-wheela, a gibbering shaman who summons scorching magic from atop a totem.

Sunsteala Wheelas are built from lightweight wicker frames and features gruesome curved slicers. They’re rapid methods to get Gitmob grots around. The kit builds two that can be customised with all manner of grots and gubbins.

White Dwarf 510 is on its way, and the focus of this issue is firmly on the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game – which has just entered a brand new edition. There’s a battle report, an analysis of the new edition, and an in-depth look at the new miniatures that come with The War of the Rohirrim – Battle of Edoras boxed set.

For Warhammer 40,000 there’s the first part of a deep dive into the design of the Aeldari, accompanied by a Combat Patrol for the Harlequins, and an exciting new way to play Aspects of War, which is supported by a set of 10 new stratagem cards.

The Orruk Warclans are the focus of this month’s Age of Sigmar content with a new Flashpoint article and Army of Renown. Aconyte Reveals its First Marvel Titles

Aconyte Books is the book publishing imprint of Asmodee Entertainment, a game company that is leveraging its IP for a range of new prose novels.

The publisher had previously announced a partnership with Marvel for a series of prose novels and it has now revealed the initial lineup which launches in Fall 2020.
