Marc Guggenheim to Script Rob Liefeld’s Prophet

Prophet #28

Marc Guggenheim has been tapped by Jeff Robinov‘s Studio 8 to adapt Prophet, the comic book character created by Rob Liefeld.

The story is about a super-soldier put into deep freeze for a future mission only to awaken prematurely and search for a mission that doesn’t exist. The goal is to turn it into a franchise.

Adrian Askarieh, Brooklyn Weaver, Rob Liefeld. John Hyde and Terissa Kelton will also be involved in producing capacities.

Prophet debuted in Liefeld’s Youngblood #2 in July 1992 and has since gone on to star in multiple comic series with the latest starting in 2017.

Rob Liefeld’s Extreme Universe Coming to the Big Screen

extreme-studios-logo-600x257If there was one person in the comic industry that was a winner in 2016, that’d be Rob Liefeld. The creator was part of the team behind one of the best returns for a comic film ever, Deadpool (Liefeld created the character). Now, more of his creations may be coming to the big screen.

Deadline has reported that Graham King and Fundamental Films have partnered to bring more of Liefeld’s comic characters to movies. The “seven figure deal” is the first big movie rights deal of the year and will see Liefeld’s Extreme Universe come to life.

King has partnered with Weed Road’s Avika Goldsman, with Liefeld producing and Energy Entertainment’s Brooklyn Weaver.

Nine comic books are covered in the deal spanning more than 100 characters. That includes Brigade, Bloodstrike, Cybrid, Lethal, Re-Gex, Bloodwulf, Battlestone, Baboom and Nitro-Gen as examples. In the fall Goldsman made a deal to bring the character Avengelyne to Paramount.

We predicted Liefeld would quickly become a hot property in Hollywood after the success of Deadpool and it looks like we’re right!
