Classic Wrestling Grapples with Ancient Horror in Mad Dog Morgan

This summer, The Lab Press hits you with the ultimate suplex! After a successful Kickstarter campaign earlier in the year to bring this wild passion project to life, the award-winning new graphic novel publisher is delivering indie wrestling hit, Mad Dog Morgan, to the masses in a gorgeous new hardcover edition available in book and comic stores from August 4.

Created by Adam Lawson and co-written with Brian Christgau, the book features art by Maxi Dall’O, colors by Patricio Delpeche, and letters by Dave Lentz. Equal parts The Wrestler and The Shining by way of House On Haunted Hill, Mad Dog Morgan is best described as “all-out indie wrestling meets a blood-soaked haunted house in an all-new original graphic novel.”

”Mitchell “Mad Dog” Morgan always dreamed of making it to the big arenas in wrestling, but never managed to crawl his way out of the indies. They were right about him when they said he was “just another jabroni.” Determined to drink his troubles away, he wanders into a crumbling house that’s more than it appears to be—leading to a supernatural world of horror that feeds on the hopeless. As the house tries to break him, Morgan realizes all of his failures had prepared him for this pivotal moment. He was not born to wrestle in the ring, but to fight an ancient evil that preys on the lost. Bloodied, brutalized, and on the brink, this washed-up jabroni will rise up to become the main event–or die trying.

Mad Dog Morgan first arrived in comic shops on July 29, before it debuts in book store sand online on August 4. The book features a main cover by interior artist Maxi Dall’o, and followed by a special Limited Edition cover featuring art by J.D. Knight. You can order it now from Amazon or your local book/comic shop.

Kids & Monsters sees three kids sucked into an ancient war after finding monsters in their backpacks

Stranger Things meets Pokémon in Adam Lawson‘s Kids & Monsters. The co-writer of Massive Publishing‘s hit series Wesley Snipes’ The Exiled, and the director of Wil Wheaton’s TableTop, Spellslingers, Sagas of Sundry, and Escape the Night, delivers something for younger readers in this all-new teen horror-adventure. It features art by Maxi Dall’o and Mike Spicer with cover art by Jake Smith.

Three troubled teenagers from the crumbling town of Lovelock get sucked into an ancient war after finding monsters in their backpacks. With cracks forming around their town seeming to mirror their parents’ looming divorce, a path has opened to the realm of Beasts and Monsters.

The trio tries to navigate the war at home while they fight to survive the one raging between the World Within and the World We Know. With the help of the Monsters in their backpacks, will they be able to stop the Red Beasts and save their family?

Wesley Snipes’ The Exiled #1 gets over 40,000 orders with time to go

The Exiled #1

Whatnot Publishing has announced that they’ve received strong initial orders of over 40,000 units for The Exiled #1 by Wesley Snipes, Keith Arem, Adam Lawson, and artist Eskivo. The comic book co-created by the star and producer of the Blade franchise is Whatnot Publishing’s highest initial order cutoff to date. This signifies tremendous potential for the book considering that it is still over a month away from its final order cutoff on January 9th and a release date of February 8th. The initial orders are split between 35,000 copies at Diamond comics distributors and 5,000 in retailer exclusives. Only one month after announcing 105,000 units and a second print for Ninja Funk #1, Whatnot Publishing’s first creator owned book, The Exiled #1 is on track to break this record for the new publisher. Whatnot Publishing, a collaboration between Massive Publishing and Whatnot Inc, only began releasing books three months ago and is already confirming its place as one of the top-selling Diamond publishers.

Wesley Snipes described his book as ‘’Blade Runner meets Seven’’ and he is already in talks with multiple studios for the on-screen adaptation of the comic series.

The Exiled #1 offered variant covers by fan-favorite artists like Kyle Hotz and a super limited 1000 copy incentive signed by Wesley Snipes with art by Bosslogic. A rare opportunity to get a signature from the movie star, the incentive will be printed on a higher paper stock, with a numbered certificate of Authentication and signature witnessed by CGC.
