Cartoon Network and Max have announced that the animated series Iyanu will premiere on Cartoon Network Saturday, April 5 at 9:30 AM ET/PT, and the following day on Max. The network and streamer also released the premiere feature trailer giving audiences another glimpse into the captivating story based on Nigerian culture and mythology.
Adapted from Roye Okupe’s graphic novel series Iyanu: Child of Wonder—published by YouNeek Studios and Dark Horse Comics – the show is helmed by Roye Okupe himself, who was born and raised in Nigeria and now serves as Creator, Executive Producer and Showrunner. The series is produced by Lion Forge Entertainment.
Drawing on Nigerian culture, music, and mythology, the animated series follows Iyanu, a brave young orphan living in the magical kingdom of Yorubaland. While studying history and ancient arts, she yearns for a normal life—until a looming threat awakens divine powers not seen since the legendary Age of Wonders. Accompanied by newfound friends Biyi, Toye, and a magical leopard named Ekun, Iyanu sets out to uncover the source of this evil, unlocking her destiny along the way.
The talented all-African Iyanu voice cast includes: Serah Johnson as Iyanu Okey Jude as Biyi, Iyanu’s carefree adventurer friend Samuel Kugbiyi as Toye, Iyanu’s bookworm companion Adesua Etomi-Wellington as Olori Blossom Chukwujekwu as Kanfo, Toye’s father Stella Damasus as Sewa Shaffy Bello as Emi – The One Mother Ike Ononye as Elder Alapani
Previously announced streaming partner Showmax has set its launch date for June 13, when the entire first season of Iyanu will be available across 44 African countries. Recently announced partner ITVX will also stream the series across the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland this summer.
The show’s executive producers are David Steward II, Stephanie Sperber, Kirsten Newlands and Matt Heath from Lion Forge Entertainment, Roye Okupe of YouNeek Studios, Erica Dupuis of Impact X Capital, Ryan Haidarian of Forefront Media Group and Doug Schwalbe of Superprod.
Legendary Entertainment and Hasbro Entertainment have announced that they will partner to create a live-action feature film and television universe based on Hasbro’s massively successful Magic: The Gathering, Hasbro’s first $1 billion brand. Initial plans call for a feature film to lead the charge, with television series and other content to be developed as well as the universe expands.
Created in 1993, Magic: The Gathering is the world’s first trading card game. Its compelling characters, fantastic worlds, and deeply strategic yet highly customizable gameplay have captivated more than 50 million fans of all ages worldwide.
The development of Magic is part of Hasbro Entertainment’s ongoing strategy to elevate storytelling and produce films based on Hasbro’s most iconic brands alongside the industry’s best talent, studios, and distribution platforms. Beyond MAGIC, Hasbro Entertainment recently announced deals with Sony’s TriStar Pictures and Sony Pictures Television to re-imagine Clue across film and television, a deal with Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap and Lionsgate to produce a film based on Monopoly, and a deal with The CW to produce game shows based on Trivial Pursuit and Scrabble, which premiered this past fall, and its Magic: The Gathering animated series from showrunner Terry Matalas is now in production at Netflix.

Yes, the loved/hated nu-metal band is representing in the opening credits for the animated series based on the video game from Capcom. The first game was released in 2001 with “Rollin” released in late 2000 and finding popularity well into 2001 (so it sort of works).

Hasbro has announced the new toy stop-motion 14-episode series, Transformers One: New Adventures, will premiere on the official Transformers YouTube Channel beginning January 17 at 7am ET. This bi-weekly stop-motion series will capture the trendiness of gaming and POV-style content, infused with bursts of action-based comedy and high-stakes drama inspired by Transforemrs One. In partnership with TheSoul Publishing to produce and distribute the series, new episodes will be released every Friday and Saturday that transports fans directly into key locations from the Transformers One film. This series takes place beyond the existing canon and offers fans a unique perspective on their favorite characters’ points of view.
Featuring Hasbro’s Transformers One toy line as the leading stars in this YouTube shorts series, which includes Robot Battlers, Studio Series characters, and Prime Changers.
Transformers One: New Adventures will be available in English, Spanish, Portugese, German, French, and Italian.

The 10-episode animated series “follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming a hero, with a journey unlike we’ve ever seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots.”
The voice cast includes Hudson Thames, Colman Domingo, Eugene Byrd, Grace Song, Zeno Robinson, Hugh Dancy, and Charlie Cox. The head writer is Jeff Trammell and Mel Zwyer is the supervising director. Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt, and Trammell serve as executive producers.
