Game Brands, a full-service digital marketing agency for tabletop companies, has announced it has acquired Off Duty Ninja, the crowdfunding specialist behind more than 100 tabletop campaigns that have raised over $25 million. The acquisition brings one of the most experienced campaign operators in board-game crowdfunding into Game Brands’ platform, expanding its ability to support publishers from early audience development through campaign launch and post-campaign growth.

The move reflects a broader shift in tabletop publishing, where successful crowdfunding campaigns increasingly depend on coordinated marketing, audience development, and data-driven launch strategy. Following the acquisition, the combined operations will continue under the Off Duty Ninja brand, reflecting its strong reputation within the tabletop crowdfunding community. By bringing Off Duty Ninja’s campaign expertise into its operations, Game Brands strengthens its ability to help publishers navigate a more competitive crowdfunding landscape and reach backers more effectively across digital channels.

Founded in 2018 and based in Fishers, Indiana, Off Duty Ninja became a trusted partner for tabletop publishers seeking to launch and scale crowdfunding campaigns. With its founder now embarking on new ventures, the acquisition ensures that Off Duty Ninja’s campaign expertise and industry relationships will continue under Game Brands.

Game Brands was founded to help board-game creators reach larger audiences and bring great games to market. For more than seven years, Off Duty Ninja has been an important part of that ecosystem. Bringing our teams together allows us to combine our resources and industry relationships to better support tabletop publishers.

Ryan Eichenwald, President of Game Brands, based in Cambridge, Mass.

The acquisition adds Off Duty Ninja’s expertise in crowdfunding, social media, and email marketing, along with its network across the tabletop publishing community.

I’m thrilled that Off Duty Ninja will continue its mission with Ryan and the Game Brands team. For more than seven years we’ve helped creators bring their games to life through crowdfunding and digital marketing, and this partnership gives the brand the resources and reach to do even more for the tabletop community.
