Graphic Policy’s Top Comic Picks this Week!
Wednesdays are new comic book day! Each week hundreds of comics are released, and that can be pretty daunting to go over and choose what to buy. That’s where we come in
Each week our contributors choose what they can’t wait to read this week or just sounds interesting. In other words, this is what we’re looking forward to and think you should be taking a look at!
Find out what folks think below, and what comics you should be looking out for this week.
Animal Pound #5 (BOOM! Studios) – The finale… and we have no idea how it’s going to wrap up and if democracy is going to survive.
Autumn Kingdom #1 (Oni Press) – One family’s labyrinthine descent through a perilous forest where the local folklore is anything but a myth . . .
Conan the Barbarian: Battle of the Black Stone #1 (Titan Comics) – It’s the first Conan “event” with its new publisher and we’re pumped!
Dark Empty Void #1 (Mad Cave Studios) – Scientists lose control over a microscopic black hole that spews out strange things including a mysterious human teenage girl.
Exceptional X-Men #1 (Marvel) – It’s a new X-Men team and this one is headed up by Kitty Pryde and Emma Frost!
Lady Mechanika: The Devil in the Lake #1 (Image Comics) – Always an interesting series to check out. It’s a sort of steampunk world and usually sports amazing art.
Minor Arcana #1 (BOOM! Studios) – A new series from Jeff Lemire… nuff said.
Plastic Man No More #1 (DC Black Label) – A mission leads to cellular damage to Plastic Man and he might be running out of time to make amends for the past he’s tried to outrun.
Scarlett #4 (Skybound) – We’re all in on the “Energon Universe” and excited to see how each piece of the puzzle comes together.
Uncanny Valley #5 (BOOM! Studios) – The blending of art styles has been amazing in this series which has toons and the real world mash up. The story is very Terminator, but it works so well and every issue is paced with references fans of classic cartoons will enjoy.
Dona Quixote: Flight of the Witch (Henry Holt) – When the townspeople’s treasured possessions go missing and owls start appearing all around town, Lucia’s gut knows that something is wrong… if only she had the time to get to the bottom of it.
