TV Review – King of the Nerds: Supernerds
If you watched the previous episode of the nerdtastic reality show, King of the Nerds, you were waiting for this week’s episode to see the repercussions and fallout. Team Orange is having some issues when it comes to team unity after the elimination challenge from the previous episode. That tension and multiple meltdowns are strewn about throughout the episode, the most entertaining of the season so far.
A grueling Nerd War superhero debate leads to a controversial call by a panel of guest judges. Then the Nerd-Off is all about superhero trivia, forcing the self-proclaimed superhero expert to prove herself or get left in the rubble. Hosted by Curtis Armstrong and Robert Carradine.
Nerd debate! This was a comic themed episode. Each team had to debate various issues with a comic book theme, and when I say debate, I mean in front of an audience with one side taking the affirmative and the other the negative.
So, not only did they need to know the topic they were talking on, but also had to give a speech in front of an audience. At least one contestant had an issue with that. The panel of judges included Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith, yes, Jay and Silent Bob were in the house. Pressure!
Some of the logic on who won which debate might have been iffy, and calling it a debate also was a stretch. These were speeches, with no back and forth. But, it was entertaining.
The elimination challenge was as expected, a trivia contest on comic books. I want to say more about this, but don’t want to give away who is nominated. I found myself shaking my head and screaming at the tv. Being a comic fan, it’s frustrating.
Out of the four episodes so far, this was the strongest of the bunch. The show keeps getting better as it finds it’s footing. On to the second half of the season!
