X-Men First Class Teaser PosterX-Men: First Class slipped to second place for the weekend box office, coming behind the premier of Super 8.  The movie slipped 54.6% and raked in another $25 million for the weekend.  That’s impressive since Super 8 should have played to a similar audience as X-Men.  Super 8 debuted with an estimated $37 million (it cost $50 million to produce).

The movie has earned $99 million in the US and $124.2 million overseas giving it a grand total of $222.5 million.

This week see the debut of Green Lantern which absolutely will cut into X-Men’s audience, so it should be interesting to see how it holds up, but it’s word of mouth continues to be solid.
