Maki Terashima-Furuta will be a guest at Otakon 2026. She is the president of production for I.G. USA and a veteran entertainment executive with more than 28 years of experience in the global animation industry.

A bridge between the Japanese and North American entertainment markets, she has played a key role in bringing some of Japan’s most influential animated works to audiences around the world.

Throughout her career, Terashima-Furuta has worked on acclaimed productions including “Ghost in the Shell,” “FLCL,” “Blood: The Last Vampire,” “JIN-ROH: The Wolf Brigade,” “Kill Bill,” “IGPX,” “B: The Beginning,” “Fena: Pirate Princess,” “Housing Complex C,” “Castlevania,” and “Uzumaki.”

She has overseen international production, licensing, distribution, and strategic partnerships with leading companies such as Warner Bros. Discovery, Adult Swim, Netflix, Crunchyroll, Sony, and HBO Max. She is currently producing “Yokoso! Scooby-Doo,” an upcoming original animated series for Tubi in collaboration with Warner Bros. Animation and OLM.

With almost three decades of experience in production, licensing, and creative development, Terashima- Furuta brings a unique perspective on both the artistic and business sides of animation and remains a respected voice in the global anime community.

Kengo Abe will be a guest at Otakon 2026. He is a film producer at Bandai Namco Filmworks.

Abe worked on franchises including “Mobile Suit Gundam,” “Space Battleship Yamato,” and “Armored Trooper VOTOMS.” In addition, Abe served as a producer on “Ghost in the Shell: ARISE” (2013–2014), “Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045” (2020–2023), and “THE GHOST IN THE SHELL” (2026).

Toh Enjoe Joins the Guest List for Otakon 2026

Toh Enjoe, a Japanese sci-fi novelist and scriptwriter, will be a guest at Otakon 2026. He is an author. He is the lead scriptwriter and series composition director for the 2026 anime series “The Ghost in the Shell.”

His representative works include “Self-Reference ENGINE,” “Mojika,” “Code Buddha,” and “Last Year, Honnoji.” He has also translated “Ugetsu Monogatari” into modern Japanese and Lafcadio Hearn’s “Kwaidan.” He was a researcher and screenwriter for ” Godzilla Singular Point.” His most recent publication is “Clay Dolls and Moving Corpses.”

Ayaka Fukuhars is an Otakon 2026 Guest

Ayaka Fukuhara will be a guest at Otakon 2026. Fukuhara is a Japanese voice actor who made her debut in 2012 as Rin Shibuya in “IDOLM@STER CINDERELLA GIRLS.”

Fukuhara has appeared in a wide range of anime, including “Captain Tsubasa” (Taro Misaki), “Kakegurui” (Sayaka Igarashi), and “Sakura Wars” (Anastasia Palma). Her recent roles include Tina Isemi in “Rock is a Lady’s Modesty” and Rui Tazaki in “The Klutzy Class Monitor and the Girl with the Short Skirt.” She has also lent her voice to video games such as Umamusume: Pretty Derby (Seeking the Pearl) and Street Fighter 6 (Manon).

Otakon to Be Spot on Kagurabachi World Tour

The Kagurabachi Anime World Tour is adding another stop—in Washington, D.C. at Otakon. Head to the convention for a premiere screening of the first 20 minutes of Episode 1 on Sunday, August 2

Kagurabachi is a popular Japanese manga (comic book) series by Takeru Hokazono. The series follows a young swordsman, Chihiro Rokuhira, on his quest to avenge his blacksmith father. An anime adaptation has been officially announced for April 2027. This will be the first chance for fans to get a glimpse of it.

V-Tuber and content creator Zentreya will be a guest at Otakon 2026.

Zentreya is known for her use of a speech to text to speech system (STTS), deep lore spanning multiple models and characters, as well as her witty and creative interactions with her community. Incorporating her chatters into the stream with their own anthropomorphic gecko model, each stream is filled with exciting gameplay highlighted by witty banter between herself and chat, though sometimes at her own expense.

Korea Hanbok Promotion Institute (KHPI) are Otakon 2026 Guests

Korea Hanbok Promotion Institute (KHPI) will be guests at Otakon 2026. KHPI is the first public cultural facility dedicated to hanbok, or the traditional attire of the Korean people.

Opened in April 2021 at Sangju, a city known for silk and cotton production, Korea Hanbok Promotion Institute
focuses on the succession and preservation of traditional hanbok, as well as education about the culture.

Their most recent works include multiple projects for the 2025 APEC Summit (including developing special hanbok, hosting a fashion show, and creating a hanbok uniform for volunteers ) and Woori Ot 100 Seon, a project in which they selected 100 different hanbok styles representing Korea to showcase designs based on historical artwork ranging from Goguryeo murals to late Joseon period pieces.

Korea Hanbok Promotion Institute will be showcasing selected traditional hanbok at the Hanbok Exhibit at Otakon.

Korea Manhwa Contents Agency (KOMACON) will be guests at Otakon 2026. KOMACON was established in 1998 as the only agency in the Republic of Korea dedicated to
the promotion of manhwa, or comics.

With its mission statement that focuses on solidifying the industrial foundation of K-contents and enhancing the brand value of the Republic of Korea as a global cultural powerhouse, KOMACON strives to expand the public’s enjoyment of manhwa/comics by fostering talented creators and advancing the industry’s infrastructure.

KOMACON manages various manhwa-related archives including Korea Manhwa Museum, Manhwa Library, and Manhwa Kyujanggak, preserving the cultural value of the manhwa as a medium. KOMACON also showcases the dynamic nature of manhwa to the world by hosting events like Bucheon International Comics Festival (BICOF) and Gyeonggi International Cosplay Festival (GICOF).

Moon Taeyeon is an Otakon 2026 Guest

Moon Taeyeon will be a guest at Otakon 2026. Moon is a Korean webtoon artist and manhwaga whose work explores human emotions, relationships, and the narratives of everyday life through a delicate visual language.

She debuted in 2014 with the webtoon “ZOZIANGSAE’s MOON” and has since continued to develop a distinctive artistic world, centered on character psychology and storytelling.

Working across webtoons, illustration, caricature, and exhibition projects, Moon expands the narrative and artistic possibilities of comics while exploring new ways that visual storytelling can connect with audiences. She has participated in numerous exhibitions and caricature events, engaging directly with the public and experimenting with the intersection of comics and visual art.

Moon currently serves as an adjunct professor in the Department of Cartoon & Animation, Division of Media Arts at Baekseok Arts University, where she teaches and mentors emerging creators. Through both her artistic practice and educational work, she contributes to the growing global presence of Korean webtoons and visual storytelling.

Go Hong-Seok is an Otakon 2026 Guest

Go Hong-Seok, widely known by his pen name gog00n, will be a guest at Otakon 2026.

Gog00n is a visionary illustrator and designer who specializes in “Hangul calligrams.” By utilizing the unique structural beauty of the Korean Alphabet (Hangul), gog00n reinterprets the inherent meaning of words into striking visual forms, creating an artistic experience that transcends conventional text.

From the legendary admiral Yi Sun-sin to contemporary pop culture icons and everyday objects, gog00n breathes life into his subjects using only the lines and dots of Hangul. His work serves as a testament to the infinite artistic potential and geometric elegance of the Korean script.

Currently, he shares his expertise as a lecturer in the Department of Webtoon Illustration at Gyeonggi University of Science and Technology, and serves as a board member of the Korea Webtoon Association.

Through his active presence on Instagram and YouTube, he continues to inspire a global audience by capturing the “miraculous moment when letters become art.”
