Alex Vede’s Riptide takes readers to chilling depth

Ahead of Alex Vede’s Dark Horse Books debut with Yucatan 1512 (May 2025), Dark Horse has unveiled another planned release: Vede’s original graphic novel, Riptide. Vede helms this exploration of oceanic mystery and deception as writer and artist with his signature style of immersive landscapes, taking readers on a journey through the Cold War era and into lost cities beneath the sea.

The secretive NARWAL organization is hiding powerful secrets during the most contentious point of the Cold War. One marine biologist, Max, is drawn into the mysteries surrounding whale communications that mention the legendary Ceto—an advanced underwater civilization believed to be a myth. If Max is forced to choose between his loyalty to humanity and the opportunity to bring about peace with the last inhabitants of the lost city of Atlantis, will he risk everything and save both species?

Ancient grudges and a forgotten nemesis threaten to undermine the world we know, but the depths of the ocean just may hold the key to a new beginning—or a grisly end to everything.

This epic bid for survival, Riptide, a 240-page (6.625” x 10.1875”) paperback, arrives in bookstores on August 19, 2025, and comic shops on August 20, 2025, for $24.99. Pre-order now from TFAW, Amazon, Barnes and Noble or your local comic shop or bookstore.
