Binc Launches a Fundraising Campaign to Meet Increased Need and Rising Grant Amounts

Book Industry Charitable (Binc) Foundation

Dozens of authors and creators from across genres have joined the Book Industry Charitable (Binc) Foundation to declare their commitment to book and comic people. Their support is launching the Now More Than Ever, I Stand with Bookstores campaign to engage book and comic lovers in standing with their community stores amidst challenging times. Stores across the country will have displays May 19-June 2, 2025, encouraging in-store purchase and/or donating to Binc.

Thanks to the generosity of Binc ambassador and best-selling author Amor Towles and other authors/creators the first $50,000 in donations received will be matched dollar for dollar. Donate today.

With the growing uncertainty of federal funding that supports local community resources, the challenges against First Amendment rights, and overall financial insecurity, store employees are at greater risk of harassment and not being able to withstand and navigate a personal crisis. Requests to Binc for help have increased 8% over last year and the average amount to resolve a crisis is also rising.

Godzilla vs. America: Los Angeles Raises $40,000 for Wildfire Relief

IDW Publishing has announced the charity issue Godzilla vs. America: Los Angeles has raised $40,000 to help comic shops and book stores impacted by the tragic wildfires.

100% of the proceeds from Godzilla vs. America: Los Angeles orders went to the Binc Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping bookstore and comic shop employees and owners with unforeseen emergencies.

While it may have “versus” in the title, the acclaimed anthology series Godzilla vs. America is actually a celebration of the cities the King of the Monsters visits in each issue. Every comic features several stories by innovative comic book creators who are from or living in the titular city, and in the case of the City of Angeles, these tales were brought to life by Gabriel Hardman, Jordan Morris, Nicole Goux, Dave Baker, J. Gonzo, Scott Hannah, Heather Breckel, and Sandy Tanaka, as well as editors Jake Williams and Nicolas Niño.

To celebrate the release of this special issue and the Los Angeles comic book community, the iconic shop Collector’s Paradise hosted a fun signing event with creators Morris, Hardman, Gonzo, and Goux. This Saturday, May 3, the creators will also appear at the popular comic shop Things From Another World for a signing event that also coincides with Free Comic Book Day. Attendees will also be able to purchase a Godzilla vs. America: Los Angeles poster at the event, with all proceeds going to Binc.
