G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero gets “Gears of Joe” Variant Covers from Steve Beach

Skybound, Image Comics, and Hasbro have revealed the first batch of all-new “Gears of Joe” variant covers from fan-favorite artist Steve Beach for the smash hit series G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero. From legendary series writer Larry Hama, and artist Chris Mooneyham, the landmark series’ issue #321 will arrive in comic book shops on October 8, 2025. 

Spanning issues #321-330, Beach’s “Gears of Joe” variants each spotlight an iconic G.I. JOE character set alongside their signature vehicles and gear, which have become series characters in their own right. 

The first wave of covers revealed today span issues #321-#326 and showcase, in order, Cobra Commander, Duke, Baroness, Shipwreck, Destro, and Cover Girl. The new cover series kicks off timed to the debut of a very important issue, which arrives in a way longtime fans know Larry Hama does best. 300 issues after the historic G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #21, Hama does it again with another instant classic silent issue for #321. In this gripping issue with no dialogue, Snake-Eyes and Dawn must defend The Pit from an unexpected attack! 

In addition to the new “Gears of Joe” 1:10 incentive cover series by Beach, G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero continues with main covers by the incomparable Andy Kubert and colorist Laura Martin and an open-to-order variant cover with a black and white version of Kubert’s main covers. 

G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #321 (SRP: $3.99) will be available on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at comic book shops and digital platforms including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play.

All of DC’s Pride-Themed Variant Covers Revealed!

DC Comics has revealed all of their Pride-themed variant covers to help celebrate Pride 2022.

The final two variants revealed were Blood Syndicate: Season One #2‘s Pride Variant by Mateus Manhanini and Robin #15‘s Pride Variant by Lynne Yoshi!

Other variants are by Amy Reeder (Batman #124), David Talaski (Superman: Son of Kal-El #12), Derek Charm (Action Comics #1044), Joe Phillips (Aquamen #5), Kevin Wada (Nubia: Queen of the Amazons #1), Kris Anka (Poison Ivy #1), Nick Robles (Nightwing #93), Nicole Goux (Wonder Woman #788), Olivier Coipel (Harley Quinn #16), Stephen Byrne (Multiversity: Teen Justice #1).

Astonishing Times Arrives from comiXology Originals this July!

Variant Comics and comiXology Originals are teaming up for Astonishing Times, a new 5-issue comic series that examines the relevance of superheroes in the 21st century. Frank J. Barberie makes his return to creator-owned comics along with the writing debut of Arris Quinones.

Noah Sans is a young reporter at The Sentinel, working in the shadow of his father. He lives in a world full of superheroes – but no one seems to care. After a world-changing event called The Cataclysm, people moved on, and now heroes are old news. But, when Noah begins investigating a mysterious murder, he comes face to face with his most revered heroes and is forced to confront a secret past that could change the world forever.

Astonishing Times features art by Ruari Coleman and color by Lauren Affe with lettering by Taylor Esposito. Astonishing Times will be released monthly beginning July 26, 2021.
