The Batman Gets an HBO Max Spin-off focused on the Gotham PD

The Batman

HBO Max is going heavy with original series based on DC properties and we’re getting a very intriguing one. The Batman is getting a spin-off that will focus on the Gotham police department from Matt Reeves and Terrence Winter. The series has a commitment.

Reeves is currently working on The Batman, the latest reboot of the Batman franchise, and the focus, not surprisingly, is to launch a “Batman universe” across multiple platforms. This is the first project announced under Reeve’s deal with Warner Bros. Television Group.

The film reportedly focuses on the corruption in Gotham City which easily leads to a natural series focused on the police department.

The Gotham police department was the focus of the now-canceled Gotham television series as well as a praised comic series. Gotham ran from 2014 to 109 for five seasons and 100 episodes. The comic has been one that many have wanted to see developed into a television series for some time now and focuses on how the Gotham PD operates with the concept of Batman in a city.

Along with this series, HBO Max is also seeing the development of Justice League Dark by JJ Abrams and Bad Robot Productions, an Aquaman animated series, a Green Lantern series, “Strange Adventures,” and a series by Elizabeth Banks called “DC Super Hero High.” Previously on just the DC Universe app, Doom Patrol is airing its second season on HBO Max as well and the Harley Quinn animated series will soon be available as well.
