There’s something really good about The Strain.  It’s a vampire tale mixed with a biological CDC thriller/procedural.  There’s enough here to make it stand out from the endless amounts of other vampire stories on the market.  The art fits the mood perfectly and there’s just a sense of dread that permeates the story.  I was looking forward to see what the series had to offer when it was announced, but I had no clue it’d be this good.  A perfect comic for these dreary winter months and one you should be absolutely reading.

• Last of the Greats #5 – Josh Fialkov is a twisted man and this series is a prime example.  What do you get when you take a super hero and mix him with Machiavelli?  This would be pretty close.
  
• Severed #7 – A haunting horror story that just sticks with you.  There’s been so many holy crap moments already, I can’t imagine what this final issue has in store.
  
• Thief of Thieves #1 – Image has been on a roll so far and this series has a lot of buzz about it.  The previews I’ve seen have been cool, and this is one I can’t wait to read.
  
• Mega Man #10 – Archie has been knocking it out of the park with this series that’s fun for adults and kids and captures the spirit of the video game and cartoon series.
