Review: Independence Day #3

ID4_3_CoverATensions arise aboard the sub as specimens are shipped back for study. Meanwhile, Adams and co. get to grips with their extraterrestrial armaments and discover the real motivation behind the alien crash…

Explosions, science, and revenge. That’s what you’ll find in Independence Day #3 by writer Victor Gischler. All of that as the characters deal with issues among themselves and their particular feelings about bringing the alien corpse on board which leads them to finding something interesting out. The aliens are drilling, for some unknown reason. The team takes desperate action in hopes of stopping the aliens’ plan. Of course that doesn’t go according to plan as one of the aliens follows the team back on board their submarine.

The art by Alex Shibao is great. The alien dive-suits are fantastic and creepy. The design reminds me of old diving suits, the difference is these are made with alien tech. I will admit even the human dive-suits look like something from the future, which makes sense since the comic is the near future. The explosions are colorful, but manage to keep the characters in shadows of an underwater fire.
