Today a committee from the Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan school district will consider banning the graphic novel series “Bone,” by Jeff Smith, from 12 elementary school libraries.

The issue of the series came to light when a student’s mother complained about depictions of drinking, smoking and gambling thinking they were inappropriate for young children.  The series creator Jeff Smith commented on the situation at C2E2

The meeting will be at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday at the district office, 3455 153rd St. W. in Rosemount.  We will update the situation once word gets out as to the committee’s decision.
