Recently Comic of the Month Club sent a notice to subscribers that their service was coming to an end but they were pursuing finding new ownership to take over the business. That looks like it has happened.

The mystery box service provides 11 comics a month curated from a list of preferences of series subscribers provide. Comics ranged across the decades and generally it was a fun service, a personal long box diver.

From a Facebook post, it sounds like the service will take a month off and return after as the transition happens and some updates occur.

ATTENTION! We are now under new ownership and currently in the process of moving inventory and doing all the needed paperwork. There will be a delay this month getting things going but all subscribers payments have been cancelled so you won’t get charged for this month. If issues arise in this transfer period we will take care of them.

Thank you all for your patience and I can’t wait to get settled in and sending out comics each month to you all.. I have big plans and some cool ideas for the new boxes. If you have any suggestions feel free to let us know! Thanks! -Chris

Comic of the Month Club’s announcement comes after a year where similar mystery comic boxes have also shut down. We’ve seen a boom and bust across the board when it comes to mystery boxes over the past few years. The highest profile closure was Nerd Block which also is in the process of returning.
