The West Coast Avengers Return with Kelly Thompson and Stefano Caselli as the Creative Team

A classic team is assembling as the West Coast Avengers will return in August. The new series is written by Kelly Thompson with art by Stefano Caselli.

Clint Barton returns to the team to lead it but is joined by Kate Bishop, Gwenpool, Quentin Quire, Johnny (Kate’s boyfriend), and America Chavez. These characters have each either headlined their own series or have been breakout stars within others.

Thompson said in the announcement that Kate needs help saving L.A. since there’s a lack of superheroes. Barton will join her battle to help and mentor her. Gwenpool is the “x-factor,” Quire wants a team and family but wont’ admit it, Johnny is in over his head, and Chavez’s motives are a bit of a mystery.

Like the original team, they’ll be living together and be a part of a reality show living together under the same roof. The last time a reality show was done with a team it was the New Warriors which led to the “Stamford incident,” registration, and then Civil War.

West Coast Avengers #1 comes to shelves August 22, 2018. Below is the solicitation text for the first issue:

HAWKEYE (KATE BISHOP). HAWKEYE (CLINT BARTON). A guy named FUSE. Never have they ever been called “the big three” of…anything. And now here they are, reunited for, okay, well, it’s only the second time ever. Thank god they also brought AMERICA CHAVEZ, GWENPOOL and KID OMEGA. Wait. What? That’s right, it’s the new West Coast Avengers, son. And you better hope they can figure out how to save the world because BIG things are headed for the West Coast.
