TV Review: Agent Carter S1E5 The Iron Ceiling

On this episode of Marvel‘s Agent Carter, Peggy is finally trusted with a mission and calls upon her trusted Howling Commandos squad for backup. But her cover could be at risk when SSR Chief Dooley also sends Agent Thompson with her.

The latest episode is all action as Peggy teams up with the Howling Commados to head to Russia. The episode is an interesting one teasing at so many things for long time comic fans, and while the series has a bit of its underlying theme of taking on misogyny, it’s not quite as prevalent. The episode does show off Peggy’s bravery in battle as she gets to fire off some shots which all leads to Jack confessing something to her. It’s a massive shift in their dynamic, a very interesting one.

The episode also begins to clear the charges against Stark.

But, the big deal of the episode is the revelation of Dottie’s past.

SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!

Dottie is in fact a Russian agent, a product of the Red Room which also seems to be a Leviathan prison. For those who don’t know, this ties into Black Widow and the Winter Soldier, something I’m sure comic fans are giddy to see. The ramifications are huge.

SPOILERS END!!!!

There’s also some interesting developments for Daniel’s search for the mysterious woman. What he’ll do with his information, we’ll have to see.

The episode though is a huge shift for Carter and how she may be treated. But, as the teaser for next week shows, we might not want to get too excited.

Overall Score: 7.75
