NYCC 2015: Play with Power: IAmElemental

IAmElemental, the toy company that pioneered strong, healthy female action figures for girls (and boys!) is heading to New York Comic Con. You can find them at Booth #1760 to take a look at their seven Series 1/Courage figures, which were named by TIME Magazine as one of the “25 Best Inventions of 2014.”  Here’s what else they have in store for you this week:

  • GOLD HONESTY: Just for NYCC attendees, IAmElemental’s popular winged Honesty action figure from Series1/Courage is available in a metallic gold colorway for $12. Only 250 figures will be available each day.  Pre-order this exclusive limited edition Gold Honesty at IAmElemental.com for pick-up at Booth #1760
  • BRAVERY BY ANNIE WU: Another NYCC exclusive: a limited edition 16×20” poster, BRAVERY by Annie Wu, the artist behind Black Canary, Hawkeye, Batgirl Beyond, and Archie.  This is the first run, and only 250 were produced.  Available exclusively at Booth #1760 for $20.
  • PINK BRAVERY: Debuting at NYCC and for sale at Booth #1760 and in our online store, Bravery goes metallic pink to support breast cancer research.  This limited edition Pink Bravery from Series 1/Courage comes paired with a set of ten 5×7 greeting cards by female comic, graphic novel, and animation artists for $25.  All profits will go directly to UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
  • COURAGE CORE POWER: Making her debut at NYCC, meet our 6.5” Courage figure, a fusion of all Elements in Series 1/Courage. She features more than 30 (yas, 30!) points of articulation and includes removable accessories including a helmet, armor, flaming Energy sword and Courage shield.  We’re taking pre-orders now at $24.99; she ships in early November.
  • UNWomen/HeForShe: IAmElemental is proud to partner with our friends at UNWomen/HeForShe, a solidarity movement for gender equality that brings together one half of humanity in support of the other, for the benefit of all.  Every visitor to our ComicCon booth who commits to the UNWomen/HeForShe initiative will be entered to win one of our many giveaways.  And don’t miss our panel discussion with HeForShe and special guests, “A (Wo)man’s World: Closing the Gender Gap in Pop Culture” in Room 1B03 on Sunday, October 11, 1:30-2:30 p.m.
  • WORKSHOP: BAM! POW! Create Your Own Superhero: The IAmElemental team will help kids of all ages create superhero characters and lay out a storyboard to start creating their very own comic at this family event. Bring the kids to Family HQ – 1C01 on Saturday, October 10, 1:45-2:45 p.m.

So, what’s your power… Bravery, Energy, Honesty, Industry, Enthusiasm, Persistence or Fear?  Come by Booth #1760 and find out.

Baltimore Comic Con 2015 Coverage and Cosplay

This year’s Baltimore Comic-Con brought thousands of comic buffs out to the Baltimore Convention Center to take in panels celebrating Batman Day and guest of honor Mark Waid, get autographs, cosplay, shop the show floor (and bring home way way too many Funko Pop Vinyl figures), and discover interesting companies like Ductile CreationsDream Dragon Studios, and Seus Craft.

The BCC special guest list (which seems to grow each year) included some great talent such as Scott Snyder, Neal Adams, and Waid. Actors such as Ming-Na Wen from Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Katie Cassidy from Arrow, Paul Blackthorne from Arrow, and Edward James Olmos from Battlestar Galactica and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. also graced the con with their presence.

There was a swarm of cosplayers represtenting several characters including con staples like Deadpool, Spider-Man, and Superman, but this year seemed to have less animated characters for some reason. No Rick and Morty cosplay? C’mon mid-Atlantic region. My personal favorite was the Mr. & Mrs Red Skull duo.

All in all, the Baltimore Comic-Con felt like it grew in size and continues to be an awesome place to shop and hang out with like minded fans. Check out our gallery below and don’t forget to put this great con on your list for next year.

Clerks Select 20th Anniversary Action Figures In Stores Now!

They’re not even supposed to be here today! Oh, wait – yes, they are!

For 20 years, director Kevin Smith has been entertaining us with his tales from the View Askewniverse, populated by the dysfunctional residents of Leonardo, New Jersey. Now, at your local comic shop, Diamond Select Toys has released four Select-scale action figures based on the film that started it all, Clerks!

Each 7-inch scale, fully poseable action figure is captured in the film’s famous black-and-white palette, and includes film-accurate accessories as well as a diorama base. Quick Stop employee Dante Hicks and perpetual loiterer Jay each come with half of the Quick Stop, while RST Video employee Randal Graves and spectator Silent Bob each come with half of RST Video! The cardboard backdrops fit into the sidewalk bases, and can be reversed to show the interior of each store! Collect all four to build the shopping center!

Sculpted by Patrick Piggott, each figure comes packaged in oversized Select-style display packaging, with spine artwork for easy shelf reference. Look for them at your local comic shop (if they don’t have them, they can order them) or order through your favorite online toy retailer!
