That’s three weeks in a row in first place for Wonder Woman 1984. The film earned an estimated $3 million over the weekend to bring its domestic box office to $32.6 million. At the international box office, the film earned about $8.8 million over the week to bring that gross to $98.8 million. Worldwide, the film has earned $131.4 million.

In second place was The Croods: A New Age which earned an estimated $1.8 million. That raises its domestic earnings to $36.9 million after 7 weeks. Internationally, the film added $10.55 million over the week to raise that number to $90.95 million. It has earned $127.8 million in its run so far.

In third place was News of the World. The film added an estimated $1.2 million to its domestic total to bring that to $7.1 million.

Monster Hunter came in fourth place earning an estimated $1.1 million. So far, the film has earned $7.8 million domestically. Internationally, the film earned about $900,000 over the week to bring that total to $5.8 million. Worldwide, the film has earned $13.6 million.

Rounding out the top five was Fatale which earned an estimated $670,000. The film has brought in $4 million at the domestic box office.

Initial numbers have the weekend box office grossing $9,069,545 from 23 films and 10,545 theaters. The theater number is underreported as Wonder Woman 1984‘s theater count has not been released. The previous weekend saw $12,893,502 from over 10,758 theaters and 27 films which also included the theater undercount. That’s a per average theater earning of less than $860.08 compared to the previous weekend’s $1,198.50.

Wonder Woman 1984 repeated last week’s first place finish at the domestic weekend box office with an estimated $5.5 million. The film has now grossed $28.5 million in its two weeks domestically. Internationally, the film also added $21.7 million at the international box office over the past week to bring that to $90 million. In its two weeks, the film has earned $118.5 million worldwide.

The Croods: A New Age improved from the previous week coming in second place and increasing its grosses. The film added $2.2 million over the weekend. Its domestic total now stands at $34.5 million. Internationally, the film grossed about $12.5 million over the week. The film has earned $80.4 million there. Worldwide, the film has earned just under $115 million after 5 weeks.

In third place was News of the World which dropped from second. The film earned an estimated $1.7 million to bring its total to $5.4 million.

Monster Hunter came in fourth place with an estimated $1.3 million an improvement of 11.1%. It has earned $5.5 million domestically. The film has held steady with $4.8 million at the international box office giving it a worldwide total of $10.3 million.

Rounding out the top five was Fatale which earned $700,000 to bring its domestic total to $3.1 million.

In other comic film news…

The New Mutants wasn’t on the chart but earned about $6,000 over the week internationally to bring that total to $22,581,746. With the $23,852,649 domestically, the film has earned $46,434,395.

Though it’s only rough numbers in, the weekend domestic box office grossed $12,893,502 from over 10,758 theaters and 27 films. The Wonder Woman 1984 theater count is not being reported. That’s compared to $24,185,695 from 13,956 theaters, and 34 films the previous week. That’s an average per-theater earning of less than $1,198.50 this past weekend compared to the previous weekend’s $1,732.99.

Wonder Woman 1984 Lassoes the Top of the Box Office with a Post COVID Best Opening

Despite polarizing reviews and simultaneous opening on HBO Max, Wonder Woman 1984 had a solid post-COVID debut with a reported $16.7 million from 2,100 theaters. That’s the second-best post-COVID opening behind Tenet‘s $20.2 million. The film has also earned a reported $68.3 million at the international box office delivering a worldwide opening of $85 million.

The original film opened in 2017 with with $103.3 million domestically and $228.2 million worldwide beating predictions then.

The current film has made Warner Bros. and AT&T happy as half of HBO Max’s retail subscribers viewing and millions more viewing it through cable or wireless access. The service has 12.6 million subscribers. The film “broke records and exceeded expectations” in its first 24 hours of service and it’s expected to continue to do so. The company has said it is fast-tracking a third film which is expected to have a traditional release.

In second place was another new film, News of the World. That opened with $2.4 million domestically. No international numbers have been released.

The Croods: A New Age dropped to third place earning an estimated $1.7 million domestically. The film has earned $30.3 million after five weeks. Over the week, the film added about $10.4 million internationally to bring that total to $67.9 million. Worldwide, the film has earned $98.3 million making it one of the top-earning films of the year.

Monster Hunter, last week’s top film, dropped to fourth with a drop of 48.9% and earning an estimated $1.1 million. The film has now earned $4.2 million domestically. No new numbers have been reported for international earnings and the film stands at $4.8 million for a worldwide total of $9 million.

Rounding out the top five was another new film, Promising Young Woman which earned an estimated $680,000. No international total is reported.

In comic movie news…

The Empty Man hung on at the box office with an estimated $3,000, an improvement over the past week. The film has now earned $2,995,403. Internationally, the film earned about $15,000 over the week to bring that total to $859,442. Worldwide, the film has earned $3,854,845.

The New Mutants also improved from the previous week with an estimated $3,000. The film has now earned $23.9 million domestically. Internationally, the film earned about $31,000 over the week to bring that total to $22,575,269. Worldwide, the film has earned $46,430,043.

Bowed by Wonder Woman 1984, the box office had an improved weekend with $24,185,695 from 34 films in 13,956 theaters. That’s well above last week’s $7.6 million from 38 films and 14,312 theaters. The average theater earned $1,732.99, well above last weekend’s $530.47. We’ll have an update on these numbers when the final box office tally has been released.

Monster Hunter Nabs Its Prize of First Place at the Weekend Box Office

Monster Hunter took the top of the weekend box office, bumping off some other hunters, The Croods. Based on the video game series, Monster Hunter earned an estimated $2.2 million from 1,736 theaters averaging $1,267 per theater. The film also opened internationally with $4.8 million for a worldwide total of $7 million.

In second place was the champ of the last few weekends, The Croods: A New Age. That film added an estimated $2 million to its domestic total. It’s now earned a little over $27 million, one of the best totals of the year. Internationally, the film added about $5.4 million over the week to bring that total to $57.5 million. Worldwide, the film has earned $84.5 million one of the highest earnings of the year for a film.

Fatale debuted in third place. The film grossed an estimated $925,000. No international earnings have been reported.

In fourth place was the re-release of Elf which earned an estimated $365,000. After six weeks, the film has earned $1.9 million domestically and $141,033 at the international box office.

Rounding out the top five was Half Brothers which earned an estimated $260,000 dropping 47.5% from the previous week. The film has earned $1.8 million after three weeks. No international numbers have been released.

When it comes to comic films.

The Empty Man earned an estimated $2,500 after nine weeks to bring its domestic total to $3 million. Internationally, the film has now earned $842,295 an increase of about $70,000 over the week. Worldwide the film has earned $3,844,325.

The New Mutants also earned an estimated $2,500 after 17 weeks. That brings the domestic gross to $23.9 million. Over the week, it looks like international earnings remained steady at $22,544,735. Worldwide, the film has earned $46,396,246.

38 films grossed $7,592,134 from 14,312 theaters. The previous weekend saw $6,687,559 from 36 films and 14,704 theaters. This past weekend had an average theater earning of $530.47 compared to the previous weekend’s $454.81. We’ll update these numbers as they become finalized.

The Croods: A New Age was the top of the box office again for the third weekend in a row. The film earned an estimated $3.1 million, down 32.2% from the previous weekend. The film has earned $24.3 million after three weeks at the box office, a “success” in a difficult year. At the international box office, the film added about $12 million over the week to bring that total to $52.1 million. Worldwide, the film has earned $76.3 million in its three weeks.

Half Brothers held on to second place with an estimated $490,000. The film has earned just $1.4 million after two weeks. No international numbers have been released.

In third place was Elf, a re-release of the classic film. It added $400,000 to its domestic total to bring that to $1.5 million after five weeks. It also has earned $110,815 at the international box office. Worldwide, the film has earned $1.6 million.

In fourth place was Freaky, which slipped one spot. The film earned an estimated $315,000 in its fifth week. It also added about $300,000 over the week at the international box office to bring that number to just under $6 million. Worldwide, the film has earned $14.2 million.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas is a re-release of the film earning an estimated $268,170 in one of the higher per-screen average.

In comic film news…

Wonder Woman has gotten a re-release leading up to the sequel’s release. The film came in at #10 earning $189,000. Internationally, the film earned $136,589 for a worldwide total of $325,589.

The New Mutants is still hanging in there earning $11,000 in its sixteenth week. The film has earned $23.8 million domestically. It also earned a little internationally to bring that total to just under $22.5 million. Worldwide, the film has earned $46.3 million.

The Empty Man added $5,000 to its domestic total to bring that to $2,987,855 after 8 weeks. The film also earned about $67,000 over the week at the international box office to bring that to $778,884.

At the current reporting, the weekend box office brought it $6,687,559 from 36 films. That’s down from last weekend $8.5 million from 39 films. There were 14,704 theaters, down from the previous weekend’s 16,864. That’s a per-theater average of $454.81 also down from the previous weekend’s $502.33. (Updated with final numbers).

The Croods: A New Age repeated in first place this past weekend earning $4.4 million at the domestic box office. That’s a drop of 54.8% from the previous weekend. Domestically, the film earned $20.3 million putting it already in the top 20 films of the year. It’s the only film to earn over four figures ber screen average. Internationally, the film added about $19.4 million to bring its total there to $40.2 million. Worldwide, the film has earned $60.6 million making it one of the more successful films of the years after two weeks.

Half Brothers debuted in second place with $720,000. No international numbers have been released in its first week.

Freaky dropped from second place to third with a dip of 42.5%. The film earned an estimated $460,000 domestically. The film has earned $7.7 million after four weeks. The film added about $1.1 million over the week internationally to bring that number to $5.6 million Worldwide, the film has earned $13.3 million.

All My Life opened up in fourth place with an estimated $350,000. Internationally, the film also earned $730,000 to bring its worldwide total to a little under $1.1 million.

Rounding out the top five was The War with Grandpa which was in third last week. The film dropped 44.4% from the previous week to earn an estimated $329,359. Its domestic total is now $17.6 million. Over the week, the film grossed about $200,000 internationally as well to bring that total to $8.5 million. Worldwide, the film has earned $26.1 million.

The New Mutants came in at #20 from the previous week’s #24. The film earned an estimated $3,500 domestically to bring that total to $23.8 million. The film gained a little internationally to bring that to $22.4 million. Worldwide, the film has earned $46.2 million.

The Empty Man came in at #21, improved from the previous week’s #20. The movie earned $1,500 domestically to bring its total to just under $3 million. internationally, the film earned about $50,000 over the week to raise that to $711,043. Worldwide, the film has earned $3.7 million.

We’ll update this analysis when the final numbers are in but over the weekend, the domestic box office grossed $8,471,375 from 39 films. That’s down by about $7.5 million from the previous week. There were 16,864 theaters,which is up from last week’s 15,714. The average per-theater earned was $502.33, down from the previous week’s $902.24.

It’s a new film at the top of the box office and with a semi-decent opening too. The Croods: A New Age opened with $9.7 million for the weekend. The film opened on Wednesday before the Thanksgiving holiday and has earned $17 million over its five days. It also earned $20.8 million at the international box office for a worldwide total of $37.8 million. In a rough situation right now, that’s a solid opening weekend for a film and one of the better of the year.

In second place was last weekend’s champ, Freaky. The film dropped 39.9% to earn $770,000 over the weekend. The film has made a little over $7 million over its three weeks at the domestic box office. At the international box office, the film added about $1.1 million to its total. Worldwide, the film has earned $11.9 million.

The War with Grandpa also slipped one spot to come in third. The film added $643,937 to its total over the weekend a dip of 13.8% from the previous weekend. Domestically, the film has earned $17.3 million after 8 weeks. It earned about $200,000 at the international box office for a worldwide total of $25.6 million so far.

In fourth place was Let Him Go which dropped 37.4% and earned $453,000. The film has earned $8.7 million after four weeks. It earned about $1,500 at the international box office to bring that number to $73,250. Worldwide, the film has earned $8.8 million.

Rounding out the top five was Come Play which dipped 31.2%. The film earned $387,000 domestically to bring its total to $8.8 million. Internationally, the film added about $210,000 after the week to bring that total to $2.1 million. Worldwide, the film has earned $10.9 million.

The Empty Man came in at #16 earning an estimated $8,000, a drop of 68.6% from the previous week. That brings its domestic total to just under $3 million. Internationally, the film earned about $110,000 over the week to bring the total to $665,628. Worldwide, the film has earned $3.6 million after 5 weeks.

The New Mutants came in at #18 earning an estimated $7,000 a drop of 83.2%. That brings the domestic total to $23.8 million. The film earned about $100,000 over the week internationally to bring that total to $22.3 million. Worldwide, the film has earned $46.1 million.

We’ll have updated numbers later in the week but initially, the weekend box office saw $14,177,847 from 37 films and 15,714 theaters. That’s a vast improvement from the previous weekend’s $6.4 million. The average per-theater gross was $902.24, again an improvement from the previous weekend’s $385.81.
