Directors Seiji Kishi, Shinji Takamatsu to Participate in Otakon 2015

Seiji_KishiOtakorp Inc. is pleased to announce prolific directors Seiji Kishi and Shinji Takamatsu will be a guest at Otakon 2015.

For more than a decade, Seiji Kishi has built a name for himself helming critically acclaimed and popular animation. From early works like Astro Fighter Sunred, My Bride Is a Mermaid and more, Kishi has proven adept at fantasy, supernatural, and sci-fi stories. Other hits have included Humanity Has Declined, Yuki Yuna is a Hero, and both Persona 4: The Animation and Persona 4: The Golden Animation.

Kishi received the 19th Animation Kobe Individual Award for his achievements through 2014, citing his work directing Arpeggio of Blue Steel, in particular.

Most recently, Kishi has been hard at work on the well-received Assassination Classroom, as well as the upcoming Ranpo Kitan: Game of Laplace.

Shinji_TakamatsuSince his first work as a director, The Brave Express Might Gaine, Takamatsu has spent over thirty years making anime, cutting his teeth on the giant robot shows of the 1980s and 1990s and continuing to work on a stunning range of fan-favorite shows through the present day. His impressive list of credits, mostly as director and/or storyboard artist, begins with Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam and continues through most other Gundam shows until 1996.

For the last decade, Takamatsu has helmed hits like School Rumble and Gintama — including Gintama: The Movie, for which he won the Prugio Citizen’s Choice Award at the Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival.

Recently, Takamatsu directed Daily Lives of High School Boys and Ixion Saga DT, and his most recent work is Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE!, an affectionate pastiche of magical girl shows — but featuring a group of magical boys, a mostly-dead teacher, and a pink wombat.

Otakon 2015 will be held July 24-26 at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, MD. Otakon 2015 is celebrating fairy tales, folk stories, myths, and legends.
