Thrilling Nostalgia Comics Debuts at Baltimore Comic-Con

Baltimore Comic-Con has announced a show exclusive: Thrilling Nostalgia Comics is debuting the #0 issue of their new comic series, The Liberty Brigade.The Liberty Brigade features brand new World War II adventures of many of the heroes of the 1940s. As part of the launch, you’ll find a gorgeous Sean Chen illustration of The Liberty Brigade on the cover of the Program Guide and as the official Baltimore Comic-Con t-shirt. Tickets for the Baltimore Comic-Con and Ringo Awards are now available.

The Liberty Brigade is launching as a 100+ page graphic novel on Kickstarter with a 500 print-run original prequel story available at the Baltimore Comic-Con. The Liberty Brigade consists of:

  • The Blue Flame
  • Cat-Man
  • Kitten
  • The Mad Hatter
  • Johnny Patriot (formerly Johnny Rebel)
  • The Green Turtle (the first Chinese Super-Hero in American comics)
  • Mr. Freedom
  • The Bill of Rights
  • The National Anthem

You’ll also find guest appearances by 1940 stalwarts TNT Todd (called TNT) and The Spark Man, as well as some major Golden Age villains including Professor Fenton, Mastermind, and the Rat.

The 24-page #0 issue sports a cover by Barry Kitson, interior art by Garry Gastonny and Joe Rubinstein and preview art from the graphic novel by Ron Frenz and Mark Buckingham. It also includes encyclopedia entries on several team members from Temporal Comics.

This Golden Age revival story is a true passion project, as is evident in each and every panel and page. Aside from the 80+ page story, the graphic novel features one page origins of many of the heroes and villains by an amazing array of guest artists including: George Perez, Alan Davis, Mark Buckingham, Doug Braithwaite, John Totleben, Paul Renaud, Garry Leach, Ron Wilson, Mark Morales, Steve Conley, Mike Lilly, Jim Steranko, Sal Buscema, and many more!

Celebrate Amazing Spider-Man’s Landmark 800th Issue With A Variant Cover by Ron Frenz, Brett Breeding, and Dave McCaig

 It’s all been building to this – the biggest Peter Parker and Norman Osborn story of all time, and the first Marvel comic EVER to hit 800 issues! In celebration of the 800thissue of Amazing Spider-Man and the now historic run of Dan Slott, Marvel is excited to show a variant cover from industry great Ron Frenz, with inks by Brett Breeding and colors by Dave McCaig!

It’s Alive! to publish Tanith Lee’s The Silver Metal Lover by Trina Robbins

It’s Alive! has passed its initial goal of $10,000 to bring Tanith Lee’s The Silver Metal Lover back to print! However, there’s still time left in the Kickstarter campaign for more fans to pledge to this exciting collection which already blew through its two stretch goals. That includes a Silver Metal Lover sticker featuring Trina Robbins‘ artwork from the book after the pledges passed 200 backers. Plus, now that the campaign has hit $11,000, all backers will also receive a mini print which showcases Trina Robbins’ art.

Originally published in 1985, this work has never been reprinted in any form. This new edition will feature a new variant cover by Colleen Doran, who will also provide the afterword, a new foreword by Gail Simone, and a new intro by Trina Robbins herself. Bonus content will include a special essay about the late Tanith Lee’s life and work by her husband, artist/writer John Kaiine,

All of this will be printed at 8.5″ x 11, full color, on glossy paper, all tucked inside a beautiful, deluxe hardcover.
