Katie Cook’s Gronk featured on NFL Game Day

gronk 2She’s small, green, adorable and is about to make her network television debut. Action Lab‘s Gronk will be featured on the NFL Network’s Superbowl Pregame Show, NFL Game Day Morning. Gronk, the adorable little monster created by popular comic book writer and artist Katie Cook shares a name with New England Patriots tight end, Robert “Gronk” Gronkowski. Both she and her creation will be part of a feature as the NFL meets other “Gronks”. Katie, interviewed by host Steve Cyphers, drew Gronk dressed as “Gronk” for the cameras.

Published weekly online since 2010, Cook has built up quite the following for her adorable bacon loving, pop culture obsessed creation.  Gronk is Action Lab Entertainment’s 2015 Free Comic Book Day offering, and will be released on Saturday May 2nd, 2015 but you don’t have to wait that long because the first Gronk: A Monsters Story collection will hit store shelves in February.

You can catch Katie and Gronk on the NFL Network’s NFL Game Day Morning, this Sunday, February 1st before Super Bowl XLIX starting at 9:00 am EST.

Action Lab Heads to the Super Bowl

Action_Lab_Entertainment_NFL_Rush_Zone_GN_SlideAction Lab Entertainment is releasing a line of comic books based on the hit animated TV series NFL Rush Zone: Season of the Guardians. The comics will debut at the 21st NFL Experience Driven by GMC, located at the Ernest N. Memorial Convention Center in New Orleans during the celebration of Super Bowl XLVII from January 30th to February 3rd. The event offers interactive games, entertainment, Youth Football Festival, a major football memorabilia show and free autograph sessions with NFL players.  The Action Lab team will be a part of the experience, promoting limited-edition Super Bowl copies of the first NFL Rush Zone trade paperback, along with other NFL Rush Zone special offers for fans. The Action Lab booth is conveniently located next to the NFL Rush Zone for Kids area.

This will be followed shortly by the digital release of the trade paperback and first issue of an ongoing series, beginning January 30th, and the general release to comic book shops on February 13th.

This is a big opportunity for Action Lab, as they get both the promotion of working with Nicktoons as well as the National Football League. The comic provides way for young football fans to learn about their favorite NFL teams but also introduces them to the comic book medium.

Each issue of the NFL Rush Zone comic book series features Ishmael “Ish” Taylor, an eleven-year old boy who serves as the primary protagonist, as well as other NFL Guardians. Guardians are the chosen young protectors of the players and their teams. Issues will feature current NFL players and one or more NFL Rusher, who assists the Guardians in protecting the NFL and the world from would-be conquerors.  Each of the 32 NFL teams has Rusherz, and over time every team will have stories directly related to their games.

Action Lab and the NFL have plans to distribute the comic book series and trade paperbacks to retail outlets, booksellers and the NFL Rush Zone website, as well as making it available at NFLShop and in team shops at NFL stadiums. The NFL Rush Zone books will also be available digitally through digital comic book outlets such as Comics Plus and ComiXology. Also expect games, toys and more merchandise to come.

Marvel Teams Up With The Philadelphia Eagles & AAA To Honor Brian Dawkins

Marvel Entertainment, the Philadelphia Eagles and AAA are proud to announce the release of a special, limited-edition poster on Sunday, September 30th at Lincoln Financial Field in honor of NFL star Brian Dawkins. As one of the most beloved players in Philadelphia Eagles football history, Dawkins was known for both his excellence on the field and his love of Wolverine, one of Marvel’s iconic Super Heroes. This special poster, provided to fans as they arrive at the stadium for Sunday night’s game against the New York Giants, features Dawkins immortalized by artist Jorge Molina as the legendary X-Men character, complete with classic pose and Adamantium claws!

Eagles President Don Smolenski said:

Every week, Eagles fans witnessed Brian transform himself from a humble, mild-mannered man to the fearless competitor that he was on Sundays. He was a special player – ferocious, intense, fearless, intelligent – and on top of that, he was an incredible leader. His connection with our fans was one-of-a-kind, which is why we are excited to be working with Marvel and AAA to provide those fans with a souvenir that captures Brian in his element as ‘Weapon X.’

Brian Dawkins’ love for Wolverine is legendary and his passion for the heroic mutant well-documented in news features with ESPN, the NY Daily News and more. From a locker full of Wolverine memorabilia to his very X-Men warm-ups and poses on field, Dawkins tenure on the Eagles will always remind fans of the Super Hero often referred to as “Weapon X”.

Dawkins is a nine-time Pro Bowl selection, a six-time All-Pro and a member of the NFL 2000s All-Decade Team.

This Sunday, don’t miss out on the historic retirement of Brian Dawkins “#20” at the Lincoln Financial Field during halftime of the matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants. And for fans in attendance, don’t forget to pick up your exclusive Brian Dawkins poster, created by Marvel Custom Solutions and compliments of AAA, as you enter the building! The poster will be unveiled on Comcast Sportsnet’s Daily News Live tonight at 5 pm.
