Maverick and Mad Cave Studios announce Voyage De Gourmet

Maverick and Mad Cave Studios have announced Voyage de Gourmet, an original graphic novel from writer Paul Tobin, Illustrated by Jem Milton, and lettered by Micah Myers publishing December 12, 2023. Voyage de Gourmet is a fun foodie adventure that explores powerful social and cultural themes, while displaying challenges young adults face in the social media-dominant world of today. 

Layne Green and Jiang-Mi Pipper used to be the best of friends, drawn together by a love of cooking. Each a social media star in their own right (Jiang-Mi covers historical cooking and Layne fancier recipes), their friendship came to an abrupt end when Layne posted some embarrassing videos of Jiang-Mi on his channel. It’s been forever since the two have spoken. 

When Jiang-Mi lands a coveted spot on the reality TV show Voyage de Gourmet–a globetrotting culinary competition–she has to take Layne as her partner. While traveling the globe and cooking their hearts out, the two must come together to best some of the top chefs in the world. Will this cooking competition relight the fire in their friendship–or will they find their recipe simply not worth the effort?

Maverick releases brand new trailer for Confetti Realms

On Halloween night, when the moon is full, teenagers get up to mischief. But when an encounter with a giant, sentient puppet in a graveyard sends four teens to a mysterious dimension called the Confetti Realms, they must overcome obstacles in their own friendships–and collect the debted teeth owed to the puppet–in order to make their way home. 

But the allure of staying in a fantasy world is a hard one to beat, and going home to their normal lives is starting to sound less and less appealing for some. Will these friends return home?

Featuring a diverse cast of characters, this Tim Burton-esque, comedic, modern, and high-energy story Confetti Realms is written by Harvey Award-winner Nadia Shammas, with art by Karnessa and colors by Hackto Oshiro.

Mad Cave Studios to Publish ZAG Heroez Miraculous Graphic Novels!

Animation studio ZAG has signed with Mad Cave Studios for a series of graphic novels to be published through its Papercutz and Maverick imprints for global hit brand Miraculous. Aimed at young adult and middle-grade readers, the first titles in the series will be available in 2024 across North America.

Set in modern-day Paris, the globally loved Miraculous TV series, currently in its fifth season  and available on broadcast outlets and streaming platforms in over 120 countries across the globe, follows the adventures of two seemingly typical teens with secret identities, Marinette and Adrien, who magically transform into superheroes, Ladybug and Cat Noir. For superhero movie fans everywhere, the animated blockbuster Miraculous: Ladybug & Cat Noir, The Movie, will launch on Netflix on July 28, 2023, and theatrically in select countries. The theatrical roll-out will commence in early July in France by SND and in Germany by StudioCanal, as well as in China, Belgium, Switzerland, Poland and the Eastern Europe region, Russia, Greece, Turkey, and Israël. With broad appeal across age demographics, Miraculous has become a digital planetary craze with over 35 billion views on YouTube (authorized and user-generated content).

On November 17th, attendees of School Library Journal’s 2022 Library Con Live will get a chance to see what 2023 has in store for Mad Cave, Maverick, and Papercutz!

This live streamed event will feature two live streamed events featuring the creators of exciting upcoming titles from Mad Cave’s Maverick and Papercutz imprints.

From 12:00 EST to 12:50 EST, Paper Planes creators Jennie Wood and Dozerdraws will be speaking on Library Con’s Realistic YA Panel with Lesa Cline-Ransome, For Lamb (Holiday House), and Katherine Higgs-Coulthard, Junkyard Dogs (Peachtree)
