Anime Fest @ NYCC x Anime Expo is Back in October

ReedPOP has announced that Anime Fest @ NYCC x Anime Expo will be coming back for its second year! Anime Fest 2019 is a celebration for all things anime. Located just a block away from the Javits Center during New York Comic Con (October 3-6, 2019) it will be the NYCC home for exclusive and intimate anime panels and signings, interactive and immersive experiences, after hours parties, and a place to geek out and connect with other fans in.

This year features improvements on last year’s experience. Here are the details:

  • VENUE CHANGE: Anime Fest has moved from the Pier to the Hudson Mercantile in order to bring the event closer to the heart of show.  A big part of coming out to NYCC is planning ahead and the distance between locations and venues is important. NYCC already houses an amazing amount of anime content and this puts #AFNYCC right back into the middle of the action.
  • GUESTS & CONTENT: ReedPOP has worked to be more in sync with our other NYCC events so you’ll find more anime throughout all of the programming. In addition, Anime Fest will have exclusive panels and signings so fans can get up close and personal with talent. ReedPOP is working with Anime Expo to make sure the content this year is the best representation of anime content at NYCC in previous years.
  • TICKETS: The panels and signings with talent will be separately ticketed events. The other cool thing this year is that the 1st floor of Hudson Mercantile will function as an Anime Fest HQ. This community hub will be open to both NYCC badge holders and Anime Fest ticket holders alike, featuring interactive and immersive experiences and opportunities to connect with other fans.

Square Enix is Launching a U.S. Publishing Line for Comics, Books, and Art Books

Square Enix

This fall, the worlds of Square Enix are coming to comics, books, and art books. The video game publisher has announced a deal with Penguin Random House Publisher Services. They’ll bring iconic game properties like Space Invaders, Final Fantasy, and Tomb Raider to the American market under their own banner for the first time. Currently, some of these properties have comics and manga released from other publishers.

In Japan, Square Enix is more than a video company. They also release books, magazines, and manga, so it’s not a stretch for them to bring their material to the U.S. themselves.

The new line will launch this fall with one prose book, Final Fantasy XV: The Dawn of the Future, and three manga: Hi Score Girl, A Man and His Cat, and the complete edition of Soul Eaters.

Live the legend of how Tak Fujiwara went from tofu delivery boy to street-racing god.

Tak Fujiwara spends a lot of time behind the wheel. His tofu delivery job sends him racing down the treacherous roads of Mount Akina, and without even realizing it, Tak has mastered racing techniques that take most drivers a lifetime to learn. Of course, none of his friends realize this. They’re all too busy watching the Akina Speed Stars, the local street racing team. When the legendary Red Suns show up to challenge the Speed Stars, it looks as if the Trueno Eight Six that has been seen racing through the mountain roads will take them on. The question remains … who’s the driver of this phantom car?
