Peter Grant is one of London’s Finest, a member of the Metropolitan Police Service. However, while most of the capital’s PCs are out chasing pickpockets and helping vomit-soaked hen parties, Peter is well underway to becoming London’s second wizarding cop. Working out of the secretive Folly in the heart of the city, he and his colleagues take on those crimes that might be described as weird, spooky, or frozen-hand-around-the-heart terrifying.

Having garnered a fair amount of experience and knowledge, Peter is also in line for a promotion and is undergoing the process that could make him a Detective…

London’s only trainee wizard cop, PC Peter Grant, has faced many strange and unusual foes, but confronting a sentient, vengeful black mould in the guise a form jazz musician?

That has to be a new one!

Review: Rivers of London: Black Mould #3.2

There’s a mould problem in South London. Not the usual stuff that smells funny and can be hell on the lungs. This mould is possessed by some dark power full of bad intentions and it’s another case for London’s one and only trainee wizard cop, PC Peter Grant!

The building seen near the end of the last issue of Rivers of London: Black Mould seems to have more history than I would have suspected. While I won’t spoil the surprises, there is a lot of them and writer Ben Aaronovitch delivers. Yet, there still are so many unanswered questions remain. What is the source of the sinister mould? Who is creating it? I want to know!

The realistic art style by Lee Sullivan continues, only with a supernatural edge. While this issue shows a little more of a “normal” life. It’s a nice contrast and is a clear building point in the plot before issue three is released. I’m curious to see how the artist deals with the unanswered questions and how that might impact the art.

Titan’s hit Rivers of London series continues its Third Year!

Review: Rivers of London: Night Witch #5

RiversOfLondon_2.5_Cover_APress-ganged into helping a Russian oligarch hunt his missing daughter, PC Peter Grant and his boss, Thomas Nightingale, London’s only wizarding cops, find themselves caught up in a battle between Russian gunmen, a monstrous forest creature – and their nemesis: The Faceless Man. But as Grant and Nightingale close in on the missing girl, they discover that nothing about this case is what it seems!

The conclusion to the second story arc of the modern fantasy series Rivers of London is an intriguing tale. While it’s the conclusion of this volume, it does leave a few unanswered questions especially due to the confusing ending panel. Something tells me this isn’t the last story arc for this series by any means. It does conclude the story arc well but leaves one wanting more.

The wave of realistic art continues as the strange case comes to end. There’s a few interesting flashback scenes throughout the comic with most of them using the Russian frontier during WWII as a setting. It helps create a solid contrast between the past and the present.
