Baltimore Comic Con Hosts a Massive Hero Initiative Art Auction

Hero Initiative, the charity that helps comic book creators in medical or financial need, will be the beneficiary of an incredible original art auction at the Baltimore Comic Con, which will be held over the weekend of September 8-10, 2023 at the Baltimore Convention Center. The auction will be administered by well-known art expert Scott Dunbier. Tickets can be purchased online now.

Artists whose work will be in the auction include Berkeley BreathedJohn ByrneGene HaKelley JonesShawn McManusKevin NowlanWalter SimonsonJK WoodwardBill Wray, and more.

Art will be available for viewing both at the Baltimore Comic-Con, and at Hero Initiative’s website. In addition to bidding at the auction, advance proxy bidding will also be available via Hero’s website with a strict deadline of August 31, 2023. Hero will begin accepting bids on August 21. NOTE: The website will be updated continuously as more art arrives.

The live auction will take place Saturday, September 9 at 5pm, upstairs in Room 339-342 at the Baltimore Comic-Con.

Skybound has revealed a first look at Creepshow #5, the final issue of the hugely popular comic book anthology based on Greg Nicotero’s hit Shudder TV series produced and licensed by Cartel Entertainment. Creepshow #5 will arrive in comic book shops on January 25, 2023.  

In the spirit of all iterations of Creepshow in pop culture, each issue of the Creepshow comic anthology series comes packed with two spine-chilling stories.  

First, Steve Orlando and Marianna Ignazzi scare up a sensational yarn about a young man who’ll go to extreme lengths to retain his youth. Fabiana Mascolo on duty for colors, and Pat Brosseau letters the story. 

Then, Clay McLeod Chapman and exciting newcomer Anwita Citriya invite you to a debutante ball so horrifying you’ll be crawling out of your skin. Jordie Bellaire colors the story, and Pat Brosseau letters this story as well.

Creepshow #5’s creators and stories revealed!

DC announces Tales From Earth-6: A Celebration of Stan Lee!

This December, in honor of what would have been Stan Lee’s 100th birthday, DC is releasing Tales from Earth-6: A Celebration of Stan Lee, a commemorative one-shot anthology featuring new stories based on Lee’s (with film producer Michael Uslan) interpretations of core DC characters from his Just Imagine series of one-shots (2001-2002).

This 96-page Prestige format one-shot hits comic book stores and participating digital platforms on Tuesday, December 27; the anthology features 10 new stories spotlighting the Just Imagine characters from an incredible mix of celebrated comic book storytellers and new and emerging voices in comic books. In addition to a new story from Michael Uslan, this anthology includes stories written by Mark Waid, Jerry Ordway, Kenny Porter, Stephanie Williams, Michael W. Conrad and Becky Cloonan, Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing, Meghan Fitzmartin, Steve Orlando, and Zac Thompson.

Story art and variant covers will be delivered by some of the best artists in comics, including Lee Weeks, Kevin Maguire, Jerry Ordway, Karl Mostert, Juan Ferreyra, Anthony Marques, Pablo M. Collar, Belén Ortega, Max Dunbar, and Hayden Sherman.
