DC Expands Its Digital Firsts and Launches DC Essential Reads

DC is expanding its digital releases with DC’s Digital First publishing program, home of bestselling titles Injustice: Gods Among UsDC Comics: Bombshells, the new Batman: The Adventures Continue, and many more fan-favorite comicsUnder the robust new program, comic book readers will have more variety of content and immediate access to stories that have never been available on digital platforms.

These series are new to DC Digital First, having previously been exclusive to DC Giants.

While regularly scheduled and solicited print comics, traditionally available on Wednesdays, will continue to be available day-and-date digitally on Tuesdays moving forward, DC Digital First comics will be released seven days a week.

In addition, on Monday DC is launching DC Essential Reads, a free digital promotion providing first issues of some of the most iconic graphic novels and collected editions in the DC library. James Bond Plunges Into an Original Graphic Novel in February

Dynamite has announced a new original James Bond graphic novel for release in February, incorporating contributions from a cavalcade of writers and artists to celebrate the timelessness of the character and the countless talented creators who have brought him to comics.

James Bond in “Reflections of Death” is a 128 page hardcover of nonstop thrills and intrigue. Several Dynamite Bond veterans return for this tapestry, including Benjamin Percy, Andy Diggle, and Greg Pak and the writers of the December-launching new ongoing series, Vita Ayala and Danny Lore. Stars of both Dynamite and comics at large Gail Simone and Mark Russell join the team as well. Artists enlisted for the mission include Luca Casalanguida, Robert Carey, Jordi Perez, Dean Kotz, Eoin Marron, and Kewber Baal. All wrapped up in another beautiful noir and pulp flavored cover by Fay Dalton.

With a framing story Ayala and Lore, over 20 total creators will collaborate to contribute stories that both stand on their own and tie into an overarching narrative. The central figure through the anthology of case files is Moneypenny. She’s been kidnapped. and the mystery of her captors and their demands will only be revealed when, or if, 007 is able to complete his missions. While Moneypenny herself may have some surprises up her sleeve.

Wonder Woman #750 is a 96-page tribute to one of pop culture’s most enduring heroes, containing stories from writers such as legendary Wonder Woman writers Greg Rucka and Gail Simone, as well as fan-favorite scribes Vita Ayala, Marguerite Bennett, Jeff Loveness, and current Wonder Woman writer Steve Orlando. They’ll be joined by a variety of new WW storytellers, including Kami Garcia (Teen Titans: Raven, Joker/Harley: Criminal Sanity), Shannon and Dean Hale (the upcoming Diana: Princess of the Amazons), and Mariko Tamaki (Supergirl: Being Super, Harley Quinn: Breaking Glass).
