Holy breaking news, BatFans! The original Batman is coming to the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo April 27-29, 2012!
(Calgary, AB) Keep your eyes to the sky this spring and you might catch a glimpse of the original Caped Crusader soaring his way to Calgary’s BMO centre.
Over half a decade of work in the world of arts and entertainment has made Adam West a beloved house hold name for multiple generations. Some of his film and television titles – apart from Batman, include, Drop Dead Gorgeous, An American Vampire Story, The Young Philadelphians, The Last Precinct, and The Clinic.
In addition to his long roster of titles is West’s kooky and hilarious portrayal of himself as Mayor Adam West in the politically incorrect comedy Family Guy. The role brought his name to yet another generation of pop culture enthusiasts and has only served to solidify him as one of Hollywood’s top personalities
“Having an icon like Adam West at our convention demonstrates how incredibly diverse the Calgary Expo is,” states Event Director Kandrix Foong. “Parents who grew up watching Batman can bring their kids to meet this living legend, just like fans of Family Guy will be excited to meet the man behind his eccentric self-portrayal.”
Family will be a big focus for The Calgary Expo in 2012 with kids 12 and under getting in free of charge. The convention will also be celebrating The Make-A-Wish Foundation’s World Wish Day on April 29 which will feature children’s performers, a costume contest and programming developed specifically for families and children.
The Calgary Expo is a non-profit organization that showcases the incredible talent of comic creators, artists, actors, voice actors, musicians, writers and pop culture icons from all over the world. Founded in 2006, the convention has grown rapidly having hosted guests from every genre including William Shatner, Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, voice actor Vic Mignogna and Bruce Timm an Emmy award winning Batman illustrator. The 2011 convention saw 30,000 attendees and is the 2nd largest convention of its kind in all of Canada.
Guests for the 2012 Calgary Expo currently include Robert Englund (Nightmare on Elm Street), Amanda Tapping (Stargate: SG-1, Sanctuary), Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica, 24) and James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer).
The Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo will be held April 27 – 29, 2012 at the BMO Centre, Stampede Park, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Advance tickets are now on sale at http://calgaryexpo.eventbrite.com/

A new convention is being held on Maryland’s Eastern Shore April 28th, 2012. The Eastern Shore Fan Con will be a genre con focusing on Comic Books, Anime, Video Games and all things geeky.
While this convention has just been announced, it already features an exciting selection of guests and events sure to be a big hit with its attendees. Special guest Greg LaRocque will be in attendance. LaRocque is best known for his work on The Flash, but has worked for both Marvel and DC as well as being a fixture on the indie comic scene. Several indie Comic publishers have signed on as well, such as; PLB Comics, 21st Century Sandshark Studios, Underground Comixxx, Faithstar Comics, and more. Along with meeting guests, attendees will have access to Anime screenings in a real theater all day long, panels happening every hour, a costume contest with prizes, competition in video game tournaments and much more, all included in the cost of admission.
Held on the campus of The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES), Fan Con boasts more advanced facilities than most smaller cons could have access to. Within the Student Services Center where the convention will be held is a full movie theater for screenings and costume contest, several large meeting rooms with full A\V support for panels, a separate space dedicated to video game tournaments featuring giant pull down screens and plenty of room for both players and spectators. And of course there is a large convention floor for vendors, artists and guests. And as an added bonus, real food will be available, prepared by the college’s culinary arts dept.
The Eastern Shore Fan Con is being presented by UMES student group A.C.T.I.O.N. Anime in conjunction with PLB Comics as a way to promote the comics and anime industries and the independent creators involved in them. UMES has one of the only degreed sequential arts programs at a public university in the US, and members of that department will be on hand to speak with perspective students.
Because this convention has just been announced there is still space for vendors, guests and artists to exhibit. For any questions, to reserve your space or for press inquiries please contact James Dufendach at promotions@plbcomics.com

Until December 25th, fans will be able to vote once per day for their favorite series, with the highest two vote-getters continuing to the final round of competition on December 26th. The final winning series will be determined when voting closes on December 31st and will be announced in early January 2012.
“Pilot Season is one of the highlights of the year for all of us at Top Cow and we’re thrilled to kick off the voting in style at Meltdown,” commented Top Cow Publisher, Filip Sablik, “Rather than just do a standard signing event, we thought it’d be fun to have a party and celebrate all these great new books! I wouldn’t be surprised if we had a couple impromptu campaign speeches on December 7th.”
“We’re thrilled to have Chipotle on board for this leg of the Pilot Season program,” added Steve Rotterdam, Bonfire Co-Founder and Partner. “It makes the event all the more celebratory.”
