William ShatnerNEW YORK and NEW ORLEANS, December 5, 2011 – William Shatner, who has starred in popular television series and movies for more than five decades, will attend 2012 Wizard World New Orleans Comic Con, it was announced today.  Shatner, whose most well-known credits include lead roles in “Star Trek,” “T.J. Hooker” and “Boston Legal,” will appear on Saturday, January 28, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

Instantly recognizable to several generations of cult TV fans as the square-jawed Capt. James T. Kirk, commander of the starship USS Enterprise, Shatner went on to star in several feature films in the “Star Trek” franchise’s revival in the 1980’s.  He also won two Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award for his portrayal of attorney Denny Crane in the television dramas “The Practice” and its spin-off “Boston Legal,” and currently hosts the edgy, off-beat Biography channel original talk show “Shatner’s Raw Nerve.”

“William Shatner is a television and movie icon to the highest degree,” said John Macaluso, Wizard World Board of Directors.  “He has entertained millions of fans over the last half-century, and Wizard World New Orleans Comic Con attendees are ecstatic to have the chance to meet him in person.”

Calgary is getting Spiked as one of Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s most notorious vampires makes his way to the Calgary Expo!

(Calgary,AB) One of Joss Whedon’s best loved characters will be attending the 2012 Calgary Expo, Western Canada’s largest pop culture event. James Marsters,who is best known for his role as the platinum-haired heart throb in Buffy the Vampire Slayer will be available for photo ops, autographs and panel discussions over the weekend. An accomplished musician, he will also be performing at a special event hosted by the Calgary Expo, An Evening with James Marsters on April 27th, 2012. Details about the evening event will be announced on the Calgary Expo website in mid-January.

Marsters has also had roles in smash hit television shows such as Smallville, Torchwood and Marvel’s Superhero Squad. His famous role as Spike was reprised in Angel, the successful Buffy the Vampire Slayer spin-off.

“James Marsters has been a cult-hero amongst pop culture fans for over 15 years,” said Kandrix Foong, Calgary Expo Event Director. “We’re not only thrilled to have him at the Calgary Expo, we’re also excited to be hosting this special event where fans can experience his music here in Calgary for the first time.”

The Calgary Expo is a non-profit organization that showcases the incredible talent of comic creators, artists,actors,voiceactors,musicians,writersandpopcultureiconsfromallovertheworld. Founded in 2006, the convention has grown rapidly having hosted guests from every genre including William Shatner, Twilight’s Peter Facinelli, The Guild’s Felicia Day, creator and writer of 30 Days of Night Steve Niles, and Jo Chen, cover artist for Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 8. The 2011 convention saw 30,000 attendees and is the 2nd largest convention of its kind in all of Canada.

Organizations From Across Texas Enhance Wizard World Experience

NEW YORK and AUSTIN, Texas, November 8, 2011 – More than 20 organizations from across Texas, from favorite genre movie and TV show fan clubs, podcasters and charities will be attending this weekend’s Wizard World Austin Comic Con, Friday through Sunday at the Austin Convention Center.  From cosplayers like the 501st Garrison/Central Texas, Lone Star Jedi and DFW Ghostbusters to podcasters such as the Down the Road Show and WGTR Radio to worthy charities like SCARE for a CURE and PurrKayla, various groups will be on site, meeting attendees and enriching the Wizard World experience.

Some groups that fans will run into on site include:

501st Garrison/Central Texas Squad, a chapter of the national organization which seeks to promote interest in Star Wars through the building and wearing of quality costumes, and to facilitate the use of these costumes for Star Wars-related events as well as contributions to the local community through costumed charity and volunteer work.
Airship Isabella, a group of artists, performers, and visionaries who have bound together to create characters who explore the boundaries of the Steampunk community and a menagerie of worlds to put them in.
Ark Angel, whose “meetings” range from actual meetings of a business type to anything from watching movies at one of the Crew’s houses, camping trips, laser tag outings, bowling, LAN parties, role-playing games, or just sitting around a table playing games of all types.
D20 Girls Project, a semi-unique business that combines Social Networking, Talent Management, and Event Services. D20 also arranges with manufacturers, publishers and conventions to provide trade show models and spokes models at gaming and fandom related industry conventions across the US.
DFW Ghostbusters, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to dealing with ghosts, goblins and the undead, all while raising money to help those in need and give back to the community. .
Doctor Who Fan Club of Austin, a local Austin Facebook Fan Club that participates in holding watch parties, bound together by the love of Doctor Who and living the values shared as Doctor Who fans.

NEW YORK and Austin, Texas, November 1, 2011 – Wizard World Austin Comic Con today announced its diverse programming schedule, featuring unique celebrity Q&A’s, music, film screenings and discussions, artist schools, contests and more for the event, set for Friday through Sunday, Nov. 11-13 at the Austin Convention Center.  Sessions featuring Adam Baldwin, Hayden Panettiere and notables from such popular TV programs and films as STAR WARS, “Buffy: The Vampire Slayer,” “The Walking Dead,” and WILLY WONKA & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY are among the highlight attractions.
