The blog Newsrama has a story about a new charity that distributes comic books to kids in need. The Comic Book Connection Initiative collects overstocked and used comic books and give them to charities that serve children. The charity’s organizer Fate Spears has said the response has been tremendous since Newsrama ran an earlier article on the charity.
The article lead to a lawyer reaching out to help set up their 501(c)3 status. With a website under development they also hope to attend conventions this coming year.
Located in Ohio, they’ve distributed hundreds of comics in the Columbus area to children and the ones deemed “too mature” are sent to soldiers overseas. IDW Publishing and Sphinx Group have responded with donations and Dark Horse will be soon.
This is a great idea and we absolutely support it and hope it thrives.
Comic Book Connection Initiative can be reached at email@example.com or on the group’s Facebook page. For donations of comics, send them to Comic Book Connection Initiative, c/o Comic Town, 1249 Morse Rd., Columbus, OH 43229.
