Agent Carter Second Season Details

ABC is releasing details during their upfront event today on what we can expect to see on the small screen this coming fall television season. Agent Carter will again fill Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s slot when the latter series breaks for the winter. While that’s the same, some other things are different including the show’s setting:

Dedicated to the fight against new atomic age threats in the wake of World War II, Peggy must now journey from New York City to Los Angeles for her most dangerous assignment yet. But even as she discovers new friends, a new home — and perhaps even a new love — she’s about to find out that the bright lights of the post-war Hollywood mask a more sinister threat to everyone she is sworn to protect.”

The ABC’s official event kicks off at 3:45pm ET, and we’ll be updating with any news concerning it or other related series.

ABC Renews Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Carter

Agents_of_SHIELD_logoIts been announced that Marvel‘s two television series, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter have both been renewed.

According to The Hollywood Reporter both series haven’t been ratings hits, but have been reliable, especially when DVR viewings are factored in.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has become more vital in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the series received a boost post Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and this season has seen the series tied into The Inhumans, a Marvel film which will be out in 2019.

ABC is also plotting two more Marvel based television series. A spinoff of the flagship series starring Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood, and a mystery project described as a reinvention of an existing superhero character from EP John Ridley.

TV Review: Agent Carter S1E8 Valediction

Agent_CarterOn this episode of Marvel‘s Agent Carter, Peggy faces the full fury of Leviathan, as Howard Stark makes his return.

The final episode of this season has a nice mix of action, humor, and a little bit of heart. Dr. Johann Fennhoff’s plan is better revealed, and still has a nice “comic book” feel about it all. We also get the fight between Peggy and Dottie we also hoped for. The episode did its job giving us what we all wanted.

For me though, the standout, and scene stealer whenever he’s present, is Howard Stark, whose return is dotted with humor in his doucheness. His ongoing joke of trying to remember Dottie’s name brought humor to an episode that was rather action packed.

The downside was the ending. Peggy makes a statement that she knows her value, so her superiors don’t need to. Which to me is a bit opposite of her attitude and actions throughout the season, where she’s bucked the system and proven her value through action. By her making that statement, it’s as if she’s given in to the patriarchy that’s given her shit, add on the fact every clapped when she enters the office! Just a down note to go out on.

Agent Carter was solid, something new, and a fresh television series. Hopefully we’ll be getting more.

Overall Score: 8
