SDCC 2022: Marvel Studios lays out Phase 5 with some surprises with Phase 6 news!
Marvel Studios took to Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con to show off what we can expect for Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that kicks off in 2023 and goes through summer 2024. Some new rumored new projects were announced with dates as to when we can currently expect the releases:
- Ant-Man/Wasp: Quantumania – February 17, 2023
- Secret Invasion – Spring 2023 on Disney+
- Guardians of the Galaxy Phase 3 – May 5, 2023
- Echo – Summer 2023 on Disney+
- Loki Season 2 – Summer 2023 on Disney+
- The Marvels – July 28, 2023
- Ironheart – Fall 2023 on Disney+
- Blade – November 3, 2023
- Agatha: Coven of Chaos – Winter 2023 on Disney+
- Daredevil: Born Again – Spring 2024 – Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio are returning on Disney+
- Captain America: New World Order – May 3, 2024
- Thunderbolts – July 26, 2024
Thunderbolts finishes off the phase and in the comics was originally a story about villains who acted as heroes while the major heroes of the Marvel comic universe were missing. The reveal of the villains is considered one of the best reveals in comics. Since then, the concept has been reworked as a kind of Suicide Squad for Marvel villains as well as a police force. It’s unknown what direction the film will take the team but the concept has been teased in recent films and shows.
Interestingly, Armor Wars was absent from the phase though Don Cheadle returns as War Machine in Secret Invasion. Also of note:
- MODOK will be in Ant-Man/Wasp Quantumania
- Ant-Man/Wasp Quantumania was shown with Kang at the end
- Cosmo voiced by Maria Bakalova will be in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
- Gamora will be leading the Ravagers in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
- Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is the end of the series and of note Rocket was not in a team shot at the end. The High Evolutionary will be the villain and Adam Warlock was shown
- Daredevil: Born Again will be 18 episodes
- Secret Invasion trailer shown
- Wong and Daredevil will be in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law
- Black Panther: Wakanda Forever showed off Attuma and Namor
- Chukwudi Iwuji as the High Evolutionary!

Phase 6 is dubbed “The Multiverse Saga“!
Phase 6 looks like it has 8 more projects that are unnanounced.
And, once again, the rumors for Hall H have been proven wrong with no announcement of “The Mutants” the “leaked” title of the X-Men Marvel Cinematic Universe reboot. Expect whatever is to come for that to fill on some of those blank spaces for Phase 6.
