Karl Kerschl’s The Abominable Charles Christopher Comes to Kickstarter
Launched in 2007 as an online comic, The Abominable Charles Christopher, Karl Kerschl’s Eisner Award-winning story about a silent sasquatch in a world full of chatty animal characters, is making its way to print in a new volume, exclusively on the Kickstarter. The campaign focuses on the third volume of the series, collecting over a hundred previously unpublished strips from the webcomic. The first two volumes will also be available for readers who want the entire story at their fingertips.
The Abominable Charles Christopher follows the eponymous Charles Christopher, a dim-witted but good-natured sasquatch, on a series of adventures through the Cedar Forest as he helps and hinders the animal residents. At times a slice-of-life gag comic and at other times an epic fantasy, the comic has gained a loyal following of readers and won the Eisner Award for Best Webcomic in 2011.
Abominable Volume 3 is the featured book of the Kickstarter campaign, but there are plenty of other perks for fans of the series. New readers can get all three volumes at a discounted price and Kerschl has not only done one-of-a-kind original art for the campaign, he’s brought on some powerhouse talent to provide depictions of the comic’s cast. Natalie Hall and Creaturebox are among the first to be showcased, with other artists to be announced.
The campaign us currently running and well past its goal. It ends on July 14 at 10am ET.
