Joker Nears Civil War While Far From Home Swings On
Joker dropped to #10 for the weekend adding an estimated $2.8 million to its domestic total after eight weeks. Over the week, the film added $14.8 million to its international total. The movie has made $326.9 million domestically and $708.8 million at the international box office. That brings its current worldwide total to $1.036 billion.
The movie is currently ranked #12 in worldwide total for a comic adaptation. It’s $9.1 million away from Captain America: Civil War and will likely pass that film this coming week. After that, it needs $45.3 million to pass The Dark Knight Rises and crack the top ten.
When it comes to movies released this year, the film passed Captain Marvel when it comes to international earnings. It also passed Spider-Man: Far From Home when it comes to gross after budget is taken out.
When it comes to DC films, it’s a most interesting one. It’s improved from last week passing Suicide Squad for a domestic total. And after the next couple of weeks, the film will likely wind up in second or third place as far as that statistic:

The film is now one of the most profitable comic film adaptations of all time. With a reported budget of $55 million, the movie has an 18.83x return so far. That’s the highest factor for any movie based on a comic beating The Mask which was the previous leader with a 15.29x factor.
The film hasn’t earned the most compared to the budget, that record is held by Avengers: Endgame. Despite a $356 million budget, that movie earned a “profit” of $2.442 billion. Joker has cracked the top ten though having so far earned a “profit” of $980.7 million. There’s a chance the film will cross the $1 billion “profit” by its run is done.
Spider-Man: Far From Home saw some dollars come in at the international box office. The film added about $83,000 to that total. That’s an improvement from last week’s $14,000 gain.
