Graphic Policy’s Top Comic Picks this Week!

Wednesdays are new comic book day! Each week hundreds of comics are released, and that can be pretty daunting to go over and choose what to buy. That’s where we come in!

Each week our contributors choose what they can’t wait to read this week or just sounds interesting. In other words, this is what we’re looking forward to and think you should be taking a look at!

Find out what folks think below, and what comics you should be looking out for this Wednesday.

It’s a short week of releases with the holiday and you can get every single issue for under $50! So, instead of picking which you should get, we’re doing something a little bit different with going over what they are and why you should check out each release!

Atomic Robo & Dawn of a New Era #1 (IDW Publishing) – Never experienced the humor of Atomic Robo? It’s just a fun series and a #1 is always a good excuse to start.

Captain Marvel #1 (Marvel) – Carol is back on Earth and this debut mixes humor and action. A great debut with an intriguing ending.

Criminal #1 (Image Comics) – The amazing series is back and if you’ve never experienced this crime/noir comic, now’s your chance. It’s good, trust us.

Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #1 (Marvel) – A fun first issue that keeps Spider-Man more focused on local threats. An interesting companion series to the “Amazing” side of things. That ending though… That’s the draw.

Gunning for Hits #1 (Image Comics) – A new comic series looking at the music industry. We’re intrigued.

Martian Manhunter #2 (DC Comics) – The first issue was amazing and we’re expected more of the same with this.

Poser #4 (Waxwork Comics) – The horror series wraps up and it has been fantastic. A great throwback to slasher movies from the 80s.

Tom Clancy’s Division: Extermis Malis #1 (Dark Horse Comics) – Clancy’s worlds lead to great visuals and they’re throwback to 80s rah rah is entertaining.

Turok #1 (Dynamite Entertainment) – A new take on the classic character that puts him in the Wild West.

Web of Venom: Venom Unleashed #1 (Marvel) – Marvel has been knocking it out of the park with Venom stories. We expect more of that here.

The Wrong Earth #5 (AHOY Comics) – One of the best monthly comics coming out from one of the best publishers. The complete package of story and art.

Young Justice #1 (DC Comics/Wonder Comics) – Wonder Comics, Brian Michael Bendis’ new DC imprint, kicks off with this series and we’re more than excited to check it all out.
