Review: Weird Detective #4

28939

Sebastian Greene is finding it increasingly difficult to keep his true identity a secret from his partner, Sana Fayez. At the same time, he’s finally tracked down the Juice Box Killer—but can he take on the horrendous beast by himself?

Not all is at it seems as the weirdness gets amplified in Weird Detective #4. Writer Fred Van Lente brings in more Lovecraftian mythology in the process. Someone else is onto Greene’s trail and it’s someone he would never suspect, as things go from bad to worse for him.

I will admit the large transformation of the Juice Box Killer is superb and horrifying, artist Guiu Vilanova really kills that part of the comic. It helps bolster the already weird atmosphere this series had to begin with. There is a sinister side to all that as well and Vilanova manages to create more pressure between the Greene and Fayza in interesting ways through the art.
