Marvel’s Runaways Heads to Hulu

Runaways_Omnibus_Vol_1_1Marvel has dominated movie theaters, taken over Netflix, and has set their sights on Hulu as their next media platform to rule. The series is based on the comic created by the award-winning team of Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona.

What’s this one about?

Every teenager thinks their parents are evil. What if you found out they actually were? Marvel’s Runaways is the story of six diverse teenagers who can barely stand each other but who must unite against a common foe – their parents.

Talk has buzzed for quite some time that the comic series would come to television or theaters and it looks like it’s finally happening.

Marvel’s Runaways is Executive Produced by series Co-Showrunners/writers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage along with Marvel’s Head of Television, Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory. Fake Empire’s Lisa Rowinski will produce as well. Marvel’s Runaways is a co-production with ABC Signature Studios.

The series and characters debuted in July 2003 as part of Marvel’s “Tsunami” imprint. The first volume was canceled in 2004 after eighteen issues. Strong trade sales had the series revived in February 2005 which ran until June 2008. A third volume launched August 2008 and ran until November 2009. Finally, a fourth volume ran from May 2015 until November 2015. Altogether the various volumes had the series running for 66 issues.
